22, 23 & 24 should come into the starting forwards when the league starts. Weāre awash with forwards but as has been the case recently weak at the back. Weāve had this problem since Mark Plunkett was shipped about to m/f or h/f. While I was opposed to him at 6 he provided strength, vision and kicking ability that could now be provided by Diffley although heās in his best position.
Anyway itās good to see ROR togged after a long sabbatical. How long will he last?
Great news.
Where does Ruairi sit in terms of the family?
Hes as bad as Darren Anderton.I wouldnt rush any of these lads back. The league is our priority.I know its a Galway ādevelopmentā team but theyāll be still stronger than us.In saying that Roscommon are a strong a team and the clipping they gave us last week will do us no harm.Id say our in house traing games arent worth a wank.
Not that Iām aware of but heard alright heās up there and training with them during the season, hence my surprise of seeing him back. Heās much needed of course, we have the forward power to have a shot at promotion but lack of experienced backs will crucify us in the crunch games, and I would not back us to do better than 4th.
Annoying because we had some of the best backs in connacht 10/15 years ago, mostly retired or playing junior now
Heās 18, might be 19 - a county minor (U-17) 2 years ago and a younger brother of Riordan afaik. I thought I saw his name on one of those college lists of prospective Sigerson teams but I canāt remember which.
A bit on the small side but a hardy bit of stuff, young though for Senior I/C.
McGuinness McKeown Reynolds, best full back line in Connacht for a few years
Michael McGuinness and Michael Meehan had some great battles down the years.
Michael is a gent as is the rest of his family, including the sadly departed Philly.
What we wouldnāt give for a few of them bucks now.
And Dessie Dolan Sr back in charge.
A brother in law of mine spent a lifetime involved with teams across 5 counties at club level. Football of course was different then, more robust shall we say, which led him to the mantra ācountry lads in the backs for bravery and pluck - townie lads in the forwards for cuteness and goalsā.
I think we performed credibly yesterday, even lead for a good bit of the game, but no one expected us to win, therefore we didnāt. London up next in the plate final, a game we should be winning
We should ![]()
Should being the key word. London likely have a better player retention record than we do despite less success
Correct,i doubt thers a county in Ireland with worse retention rate than ours
Poacher has named a very young and untested team for tomorrow. Open to correction but tomorrow could be embarrassing
Itās impossible to be embarrassed at this point.
Once your county fails to fulfil a fixture citing numbers youāre doneā¦.
Some of them lads would just about get their game for their clubs
Where does one start with this selection?
Pretty bizzare selection.Bailey at midfield, jaysus. A lot of kids in there and absolutely no backup on the bench.
