LFC TV on Setanta

Got the below from the Liverpool website. Can one get these added to an NTL digital package? Or do I need some sort of new box? I probably need a new box anyway given that I’d want to get it in my bedroom and presumably I wouldn’t be able to watch one channel while somebody downstairs watches something else without a new box? I’m pretty stupid about these things.

What’s On LFC TV

All Liverpool FC matches in the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League (not live)

At least six hours of original programming content per day, five days a week, fifty two weeks per year

Daily news round-up with all the latest from Anfield and Melwood

Exclusive interviews with the manager, coaching staff and current players

Classic matches from Liverpool’s illustrious past

No less than 50% of all friendlies involving the Liverpool football team on a live and exclusive basis

Live studio discussions with former Liverpool stars, supporters, celebrity fans and football experts

LFC TV viewers subscribing to Setanta Sports (via digital satellite or cable) will receive the club’s brand new designated channel plus:
Setanta Sports 1
Setanta Sports 2
Setanta Golf
Racing UK
Racing World
NASN (North American Sports Network)
Celtic TV
Rangers TV

You get it added to NTL for something like 9 euro a month for that whole package of channels. It’s excellent value and Setanta are doing well by signing up individual clubs to increase their subscriber base.

You can get a multi-room package - which allows you to watch different programmes in different rooms for an extra EUR 5 a month I think.

Clarkey - Setanta package is 10 Euro a month, multi-room viewing is 7.50 a month.

The Setanta package is well worth it.

The two days people would want team news, interviews etc would be on a Saturday and Sunday and none of the Setanta club stations have this. I find with having Mutv that they tend to repeat stuff over and over and it can get boring after awhile.

It can indeed Captain.

What I like about Celtic TV are the repeats of old European games and old matches against the huns.

The real value in the package though is the Setanta Sports 1 and 2 if you like Scottish, English, German, Italian, French, Dutch or Portugese football. That plus the rugby world cup etc.

Think I’ll be investing in that so. Cheers lads.

Yeah good move from Setanta to sign up individual clubs. Their panelists for the EPL games look quite poor though. I thought they would have offered something different to $ky but instead it is just the same sort of panelists who don’t want to rock the boat. Maybe I’m wrong but Steve McMannaman and Tim Sherwood don’t strike me as great choices.

I think McManaman could be fine - he used to write his own articles for The Times when he was a player - not ghost written. He’s quite intelligent and interesting on football. Sherwood will be useless in all likelihood though. Simply too matesy with too many of the players to be interesting. Setanta should be going all out to offer an alternative to the bland analysis offered by the other stations. Copy RT and don’t be afraid to cog everything they do well.

Agree entirely. Montrose should be the model and not Manchester.

Setanta are going all out to try and take the British market. First they’ve got exclusivity on freeview for their EPL games - Sky have no agreement with that platform. Now they’re offering a deal with Virgin (ex NTL in the UK) which is 8.99 a month for the sports pack or free if you subscribe to Virgin XL which is just like a family entertainment package:

Virgin Media and Setanta Sports Unveil Ground-Breaking TV Sports Package

July 20, 2007: 02:00 AM EST
LONDON, July 20, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) – Virgin Media (Nasdaq:VMED) and Setanta Sports today announced plans to transform the TV market by giving new and existing customers who take Virgin Media’s XL basic TV package six Setanta Sports Channels* for free.

The innovative and revolutionary deal means that, from the 26th July, pay TV customers and sports enthusiasts will for the first time get a round-the-clock diet of top flight sporting action without having to buy a separate sports package.

Customers will get live coverage from over 250 showcase events a year, among them some of the biggest occasions in the sporting calendar. These will include 46 live games from the Barclays Premier League, 60 matches from the Clydesdale Bank Scottish Premier League and the U.S. PGA Tour Golf, as well as European League football, rugby and horse racing from around the country. From 2008, customers will also get 25 of the 40 televised fixtures from the English FA Cup, a selection of England football Internationals and the Community Shield.

Over the course of a year, diehard football fans who want all the live televised matches from the Barclay’s Premier League will pay over GBP 110 less with Virgin Media than they would with Sky. Following changes in the ownership of broadcast rights, the deal also means that, from the start of the new football season, Virgin Media will be the only provider to offer all these matches under a single contract.

The combination of great content and unbeatable value will help make Virgin Media’s XL package the UK’s best quality TV offer. This package is not a “one-off” promotional or introductory offer and will form part of Virgin Media’s TV offer on an ongoing basis. Customers of any other Virgin Media TV service who want to add these Setanta channels to their service will be able to do so for just GBP 8 a month.

Commenting on the deal, Malcolm Wall, CEO of content for Virgin Media, said: "This deal will transform the world of TV sport and makes our XL TV package the best of its kind in the UK.

“When we launched Virgin Media last February, we said we were going to shake things up, provide something unique and give our customers superior offerings. Today we’re making a down payment on our promise by giving our customers the very best sporting action combined with unbeatable value. But this is only the beginning. In terms of both sport and other new high value content, there’s much more to come from Virgin Media.”

Michael O’Rourke, co-founder of Setanta Sports, said: "This deal emphasises Setanta’s determination to make premium sports content available to as many people as possible, at the best value possible.

“Virgin Media’s XL customers will be absolutely delighted to get our sports channels for no additional charge. They will receive 46 exclusively live Premier League games, 60 Scottish Premier League games and all the live U.S. PGA Tour Golf. It is compelling viewing for all sports fans, and the addition of the FA Cup and England internationals next year will make it even better.”

Customers can sign up to the new deal and find out more about Virgin Media by visiting www.virginmedia.com or calling 0800 052 2525.
