I saw a hare in the moycullen countryside** last week

**In the middle of the road running along.

I haven’t see a hare in years, used to see them the whole time when I was a young fella

I never saw one before out west, but my sister tells me there’s more about these days.

Bound to be the real thing as it’s from Quin Co. Clare. The bees do be buzzing there in and out around the old abbey. First impressions, very sweet compare to the supermarket stuff from non EU sources. Got it in the aptly named Busy Bee there on the Ennis Road. €9.95 for 340g.

Is that the place with the really big windows?

If it’s the Busy Bee that you’re talking about, well I suppose they are big enough.
You can get coffee now again in the Tea Rooms. They got the machine fixed.

€10 for a jar of honey, I was messing that they might have seen you coming! Is it that noticeable? Just for porridge, or are there more salacious uses going on?

Ah, sorry, us old Thomastown lads are a bit slow. I hear ye have twice as many coffee shops than pubs in Thomastown now. A figure of 20 was quoted to me yesterday. I find that hard to believe. I haven’t been down myself in a while.

I had to go for the easy gag! I’d say there’s about 8 or 9 in the town. They all seem to have people in them though. Not down a huge amount anymore myself to give a proper view. The pub scene has gone hugely downhill the last 10 years.

As usual I do my research to make sure I’m not getting ripped off. I contacted a good few people advertising on Facebook. Of course nobody replied. Does anybody respond on Marketplace at all?

Anyway all the jar sizes are different. If you were to buy a large jar say of 1Kg you’d get it for as low as €1.60/100g. For smaller jars you could pay up to €3/100g. Those are direct from supplier prices.

So the Busy Bee are charging €2.90/100g (€9.95 for 340g) over the counter. So that’s not so bad I reckon. I always try support the small business whenever possible.

Most lads don’t put prices up on Facebook, but here’s one lad who did.

He delivers around the country.

The brother says that the cowslip are rare as hens teeth now. Here’s one he spotted this morning.

Anyone heard the cuckoo yet?

Yeah, not as much as other years though.

A few shots from up around the Burren today.
