Heā€™s back training but I donā€™t think heā€™ll be available for the games. It would be silly to risk any players given the thing could be stopped at any point and itā€™s bit of a ridiculous competition now.

I donā€™t really think losing Casey is as big a blow as some make out. Heā€™s a fine player but Lads saying limerick are finished is ott. Backs are much easier replace than a scoring forward so while itā€™s never good to lose anybody I wouldnā€™t write limerick off just yet. It could also give kiely a chance to blood new players and give him more options for the 2021 season if it goes ahead.

@Aristotle has answered that question for you. Same parish. Theyā€™ve played under various guises throughout the decades, but usually as Askeaton in hurling and Ballysteen in football.

Both fielded their own football teams at various stages from the mid 70s up to 2002, with them both being senior in the 80s.

Intense Rivalry

An interesting fact that was evident when Ballysteen played Askeaton in the 1983 first round of the senior football championship was that Ballysteen lined out with 7 players from the Askeaton side of the parish while Askeaton had 4 from the Ballysteen side. Askeaton defeated Ballysteen by 3-8 to 1-4. [100]

The rivalry amongst the two senior football teams in the parish during this period reached epic proportions. The goalposts were even cut down in Askeatons Pairc na Gael in 1984. Tensions sometimes spilled over during this period and Ballysteen club received a lengthy ban from the GAA in 1985 arising out of incidents that happened in one particularly heated derby match. Ballysteen never recovered from this and when the suspension was up Askeaton and Ballysteen joined in 1987.

Note: they split again after that the join in 87.

The GAA in a nutshell, and they thought Arles was bad

Theyā€™ll be no confirmation until the swelling goes down and he has a scan. Nasty enough either way.

Basically the Ballysteen boys get a good crop every so often, get brave and fuck off on their own. Then make a fuck of it and come crawling back
The club would have won 3 or 4 counties at least in the 80s had they been joined. Askeaton made the final a good few timeā€™s but never got over the line. A combined entity would have had 5 or 6 county players

Heā€™s fucked.

So its exactly like Arles.

But Arles were never separate up until the split were they?

They may have been way back when, my knowledge of the inbred shower of cunts would be limited enough going back.

Casey cruciate gone I heard.
