Bruff 0-7 Garryspillane 1-7 at half time. Bruff have hit 11 wides with a slight breeze which might come back to haunt them.
Finished 1-14 to 2-14. Last puck of the game was a Bruff goal from a free.

Finn didnât even tog for Bruff. Big loss.
They started like a train, putting in big hits and scoring the first four or five points. A sucker punch of a goal for the bouncers and about 5 or 6 wides in a row for Bruff and the game had swung.
The bouncers are straightforward enough. Try to get as many bodies in around the breaks as possible, play direct and physical and have a few dangerous forwards.
Bruff were fairly blunt up front. Probably finished with about 17 or 18 wides but after the initial burst didnât really look like winning.
The bouncers have a few backs especially in the full back line that can be got at by a better team I think.

A first meeting in two years between west rivals Croagh/Kilfinny and Feohanagh brought a healthy crowd to the Demesne on a crisp but dry Saturday afternoon. Croagh/Kilfinny had edged the previous meeting by four points at the same venue in 2022. Last yearâs losing county finalists made a bright start, Seamus Hickey and Seamie OâCarroll forcing Feohanagh keeper Jack Fitzgibbon into an early 6th minute double save, with Cian OâCarroll pointing the resultant 65. OâCarroll pointed two more frees before Feohanagh got on the scoreboard â corner forward Johnny Field fed midfielder Jack Condon who blasted over for a point with the goal at his mercy.
All Ireland Final referee Johnny Murphy produced the first yellow card of the day to Feohanagh #14 Jack Kenny when he took the legs of James Lanigan on 13 minutes â Cian OâCarroll did the necessary from the resultant free. Former Limerick u21 star Jamie Butler got the score of the day when his sideline cut from the stand side sailed between the uprights to leave it 0-4 to 0-2 after 16 minutes. Croagh however struck the first goal immediately from the puckout â a long delivery to ex Limerick football star Seamie OâCarroll, who rounded Ciaran Kenny and Michael Nolan, before sending a bullet to the net past Jack Fitzgibbon.
A flurry of Croagh/Kilfinny points by Cian OâCarroll, Conor Lenihan, Jack Lenihan and Seamie OâCarroll were punctuated only by two Jack Kenny frees in response for Feohanagh. A surging goal bound run by Brian Hannan, after James Lanighan picked Kevin Normoyleâs pocket, run drew another terrific save from Fitzgibbon, before two super Jack Condon scores gave Feohanagh a bounce going into half time. Croagh/Kilfinny ahead 1-9 to 0-5 at the break.
Feohanagh were a different team when they came out for the third quarter â a succession of Jack Kenny frees/65s saw them eat into Croaghâs lead, and by the 53rd minute, a super passing team move culminating in a fine Jack Condon point meant only four points stood between the teamsâ 1-12 to 0-11. If Feohanaghâs tails were up, Croagh/Kilfinny didnât read the script, and they soon struck for two goals inside 90 seconds, Seamus Hickey netting both. The first came following a â65 that was batted out by Feohanagh keeper Fizgibbon, straight into Hickeyâs path whose ground strike from 8 yards rattled the net. A minute later Seamie OâCarroll supplied the pass for Hickeyâs second, with his rasper giving Fitzgibbon no chance. This left it at 3-13 to 0-13 on 58 minutes, the game more or less being Croaghâs to lose at that stage.
Try as they might, the sucker punch goals knocked Feohanagh for six. A Jack Kenny free and fine point from play, sandwiched a Seamus OâCarroll point from play for Croagh. Thus the scoring concluded.
Feohanagh certainly had enough of the play in the second half and were probably even the better side for most of it. However they didnât do enough damage on the scoreboard when in the ascendancy, especially in the third quarter. Croagh/Kilfinnyâs ability to manufacture scores and win primary ball was ultimately the difference between the sides. Croagh had six goal opportunities and took three of them, Feohanagh failed to create any goal opportunities.
Seamus Flanagan did get on a fair share of ball, but he was well shackled by his direct marker Barry Lenihan who followed him everywhere. Flanagan, in truth, was very lucky not to see red, as he escaped bookings both in the 22nd and 55th minutes for late tackles that both merited cards. He did eventually receive a booking from referee Murphy for backchat in the 62nd minute, the Limerick starâs frustration evident. Feohanaghâs management may have missed a trick not deploying Flanagan closer to the goal â he notched 2-7 from play against the same opposition in 2021 when deployed at full forward. Without him spearheading the attack, Feohanaghâs full forward line was severely lacking in punch.
Croagh/Kilfinny had good performances in every line of the field â Aidan OâShea and Denis Lenihan totally neutralised Feohanaghâs inside line. Seamie Lenihan, Tom McMahon and Conor Lenihan got the better of their direct opponents. Barry Lenihan, Jack Lenihan and Cian OâCarroll got through a lot of work. Their inside line â Seamie OâCarroll, Seamus Hickey and Brian Hannon - contributed 3-3 from play and this was ultimately the winning of the game for Croagh.
Feohanagh to their credit never gave in, despite it being evident from early on that it would take a 10/10 performance from them to win this one. Trailing by seven points at half time despite having played with the breeze in the first half, they really gave it a go in the second half, and with only four points between the teams with ten minutes left, all the signs were that a grandstand finish awaited. Two killer Croagh goals killed Feohanagh momentum however. Feohanagh had good performers in Jack Fitzgibbon, Kevin Normoyle, Sean Flanaghan, John McEnery, Jack Condon, Jamie Butler and Jack Kenny.

Star Man: Barry Lenihan (Croagh/Kilfinny). Lenihan totally nullified the threat of Seamus Flanagan. Despite sacrificing a lot of his own game, he still got on quite a lot of ball.
Ref Watch: 7/10 â Johnny Murphy missed a few blatant yellow cards for both sides, as well as a couple of frees that never were. He generally let the play flow though and was consistent for both sides which is all you can ask for.
