Thereâs grown men walking around Liberty Square in Thurles this morning in their 50âs, savage hurling people, and theyâve never seen their team win a 2-in-a-row.
In contrast, across the border youâve primary school kids whoâll be strolling back to the classroom in a few weeks and the three-in-a-row is just another bit of history that theyâve seen.
Do you think the great Tipperary players of the noughties feel like they kinda bottled it @Breaking_my_balls. I have the memory of James Woodlock roaring that they were going for five in a row after beating Kilkennyâs drive for five, they couldnât even go back to back the poor fuckers, telpis.
They shouldâve won more, took a few seasons off. Should really really have beaten Kilkenny the first day in 14. I thought theyâd more talent by than KK then but KK were far tougher mentally.
Largely the same players were brilliant in 16â when they were a long time on the road. Lucky AI in 19â really but probably speaks to how talented they were as they were way past it physically then. Sheedy leaving them was massive. They probably underachieved but then look at that Clare team after 13 and the forwards they had.
Iâve never been too bothered by Limerick. Theyâd be well after Kilkenny, Cork, Clare and Galway as far as rivalries go in Tipp. Iâve always found the obsession on the other side amusing
That Caroline Currid was on the side line and fairly prominent before the game. Is her work not done by this stage? I was slightly surprised by it.
Are kinnerk and kiely in contact with the other selectors ? I donât really follow the goings on around the side line but it nearly always seems to be just kiely and kinnerk on their own.
Michael Noonan was asked one time coming back from Brussels after getting a few interest points knocked off our borrowings from the Troika if it was a good result for Ireland.
He goes, âwe didnt quite win the All Ireland, but we beat Tipperaryâ.
