I presume the comment is from some Sliotar piece? Wrote so much in such a short run of time that I have forgotten nearly all of what I wroteā¦ Except stuff like the Jimmy Smyth profile, because Jimmy was so memorable to meet.
Really disappointing result for the minors last night.
20s tonight, a chance to reach another Munster Final.
LIMERICK: Conor Hanley Clarke (Kilmallock); Chris Thomas (Doon), Fergal OāConnor (Effin), Evan OāLeary (Ahane); Cian Scully (Dromin Athlacca Banogue), Ethan Hurley (Newcastle West), Colin Coughlan (Ballybrown); Jimmy Quilty (Blackrock), Joe Sweeney (Adare); Adam English (Doon), Aidan OāConnor (Ballybrown), Eddie Stokes (Doon); Shane OāBrien (Kilmallock), Patrick Kirby (Patrickswell), Donnacha OāDalaigh (Monaleen).
Subs : Josh OāReilly (Ballybrown), Brian OāMeara (Mungret St Pauls), Patrick Reale (Knockainey), Cian OāDonovan (Doon), John Kirby (Patrickswell), Barry Duff (Mungret St Pauls), Sean Whelan (Cappamore), Patrick Finn (Bruff), Adam Fitzgerald (Templeglantine).
There is one change in the Limerick U20 subs - Adam Fitzgerald replaces Patrick OāDonovan. Effin forward OāDonovan has suffered with injuries for the last number of months but was introduced as a sub in last weekās win over Cork. Others in the extended panel that continue to be hampered by injury include Diarmuid Hegarty, Michael Keane, Liam Lynch and Ronan Lyons.
Hopefully Paddy OāDonovan hasnāt had a serious setback, I was hoping that we might see him start tonight after coming off the bench the last day. I donāt really know what Waterford are like, they beat Kerry and lost to Tipp. But while we were impressive the last day, Cork were missing a fair few fellas that they now have back, and the match was almost meaningless.
Iād be fairly hopeful of a victory after an impressive performance last time and hopefully we get over tonight, but weāll need a few of those injured fellas back if we want to go further, I think.
The suburbanites NAP, Mungret and Monaleen. North of the city, south west of the city and east of the city have leeched any bit of life that was left in the actual city clubs out of them. Pats have Hego but thatās a fluke really.
Other than him the āinnerā city itself has contributed nothing to the current team. Pats, Claughaun, Christians all junior. Iām not even sure if Abbey Sars and Ballinacurra are fielding anymore.
Even taking in the super clubs realistically NAP are the only ones contributing. Though you would expect Mungret to make the breakthrough soon given the sheer weight of numbers.
Could be wrong but one issue I think with Mungret thereās no hurling in Comp where is where a lot of Mungret lads end up going to secondary school and the good lads end up focusing on rugby or soccer.
Iād say if hurling was big in comp than Mungret would be similar to nap.
