The PIHC is like that. Anyone can beat anyone else, which makes it a great championship, and it occasionally throws up some strange margins.
Still a learning curve for NCW in this. They’ll win their share of games and should be safe enough but Monaleen are an experienced team that were senior for a good while. Surprised at the margin alright, but not the result.

He realistically could have got us over the line in one of those AI semi-finals if not both.
His frees alone in 2013 would have arguably got us past Clare.

A 21 year old Declan Hannon. An absolute nightmare of a day for him. He took that very very bad at the time. I think Dowling came on and took them over and did fine on them, possibly missed 1.

Judging by that programme NCW are missing a fair share of starters.
No Mark Kelly listed at all. One of their best hurlers around the middle third.
Diarmuid Kelly listed but he’s away, think he’ll be back for Rd 4.
Brian Foley listed as a sub, must be injured?
Seamus Hurley listed in the back room team, obviously injured and obviously long term, big loss to them.
Timmy Nix listed as a hurley carrier would also be a loss, played midfield when they won the County alongside Mark Kelly I think
An inside forward line of Bryan Nix, Diarmuid Kelly and Con Hayes will trouble a lot of sides if they can afford /manage to get everyone back together

Why would he be stupid enough to be attempting a snide swipe at the history making most successful captain in the game, 4 time All Ireland winning captain and multiple All Star Declan Hannon? The best centre back in the modern game?
