Dj Carey got away with so much because of his hobby and look where he ended up.
Thereās countless other gaa players who have gotten away with things because of their āhobbyā. It isnāt right imo and it can be a very slippery slope.
I donāt really know the ins and outs of any of these cases nor do I want to know and Iād say most people who think they do are only pretending but if you are getting special treatment because you are good at hurling or football you canāt be very well complaining if people arenāt happy about it. Thereās nothing worse than having one rule for one person and one rule for another person. It simply isnāt right.
Iād have a lot of faith in John kiely to deal with these
Matters correctly because heās a school principal and is dealing with young people all day every day but some of the supporters and fans would seriously want to cop on with some of their behaviour and comments.
I lost a friend a few years ago in an accident and he was the beneficiary of some lenient repercussions because of who he was. I often wonder would he still be here if heād gotten a harsher lesson when he was younger.
Different circumstances. One incident when the team were away on a trip representing the county. Pat Ryan was mid championship and just after a big game.
Gilliane, while reacting to whatever goading he was getting was plain stupidā¦it was off-season, no squad for the year had been named and he was out being a private citizen. He missed out on a trip abroad (which he earned last year) and was left stew to think about his place on the panel.
Good players will always be treated differently but circumstances did fall on his side here also.
Is Pat Ryan out in the cold still? I saw him interviewed on OTB last week and thought he was speaking a bit openly for a lad whoād potentially be on the Limerick panel. Mentioned Tippās desire for goals before they went for the jugular 4 times against Waterford. A good shout to be fair to him.
Brought back into the panel pre Christmas. Trained and played in the Munster league thingy. When the final cut wass made he was one of 6 to lose out. So just lost out to younger talent coming through.
