Yeāre gone a bit quiet lads, whatās wrong?
The 1/100 favourites are getting the better of us here
My ā¬20 on limerick +14 may well be in trouble here
Our dreams of the munster double are looking in trouble.
My 20 on us to win definitely looks to be in bother
Oh well.
Thatās how it goes
Abbeyfeale is Green & White
Fanning, Sheehan and Corbett were the only 3 I felt played quite well. Big improvement needed to get a win next time out but this group of men have had an exceptional improved season so far. They deserve this increased attention and coverage
Sheehan was really excellent. In fairness he kept going when a lot of Limerick players tired. And that was understandable because we were made to do a lot of running in very very warm weather.
Naughton, Enright, Treacy ran their socks off but didnāt really affect the game.
The movement of the Kerry forwards was on a different level to ours, they were able to find men in space with their kickpasses all the time, and they just moved the ball way quicker. Gavin White is some man to carry the ball direct.
Limerick just didnāt have that. Build-up too slow, when kickpasses were on, Kerry backs just stuck to our forwards way better, our inside men couldnāt create that yard of space. I thought our defensive shape was largely decent in the first half but they got 3 or 4 in a row just before the break which would have been disheartening, and space was always going to open up second half.
+1 to all of that. It went very much as expected, maybe it was a bit of a larger gap than had hoped but nonetheless we were expectedly outplayed. Kerry are an elite outfit, we are never going to compete with that. Onwards and upwards however, itās great that they have another championship match to prepare for
Also, Josh looked injured, Iām surprised he lasted the full 70.
Itās nobodies fault but whoās the best hurler unavailable to John kiely ? I doubt thereās any player whoād seriously improve the Limerick squad around at the moment.
The opposite is true with the footballers. Even the difference hegarty and Danny Neville would make would be incredible. Thereās plenty of other players too that arenāt committed.
If the footballers want to make a big breakthrough they need everyone.
Barring injury, I donāt think there are any hurlers unavailable to Kiely. Dowling, for example, would probably still be on the panel if he was fit but I havenāt heard of anybody turning down a call-up.
Hurling will nearly always win if thereās a talented player whoās good at both.
Is there any footballer who plays club hurling even? None of the Adare, Monaleen or Na Piarsaigh lads do anyway as far as I know. The rest are from football clubs like Caseyās, Griffins or Senanās
Nash & Tony are two of our best players. Fanning is one of Pallasgreenās best and Diarmuid Kelly is probably NCWās best player. Josh Ryan obviously was particularly excellent for Doon last year.
Sean OāDea plays for Kilteely, Darragh Treacy for Kieranās, Eoghan Cregan for Croom, Kevin Howard is Christiansā best player by a mile. Think Killian Ryan and Gordon Browne do play junior. There might be one or two more; I suppose with smaller, rural clubs, you canāt really afford any athlete like that not to at least be togging out for your hurlers.
Gordon Brown gave up the hurling to concentrate on the football strangely. Is he getting much game time with the Limerick team this year?
Does he not even play junior anymore? I know he was starting for the seniors a few years back.
He came on yesterday and kicked a point but has lost his starting position this year. Think he might have been injured for a bit of the league too.
Naw, youād see him kicking a bag of footballs around the second pitch during All County League matches.
I doubt he togged out for the Junior B team, although I wasnāt at any of the matches last year.
