An extra selector or two for KP might have made all the difference.

Does Kyler still play club football when the county is finished or just hurling now? Presumably annoying for the likes of Oola or St Pats to be without county men for club championship ala hurling in Kerry. Do any of the NaP county men play football?

Kyle played last year but outside him and OOF, don’t think anyone else plays football. Hego played some games last year after Pats got knocked out of the hurling I think

That’s a joke, the game is gone :man_shrugging:

The two morrisseys played a bit a few years ago. DOD was a decent footballer but don’t think he plays anymore. WOD the same. The Casey’s would have played a bit but not in ages.

Byrnes, Lynch, Gillane, Nash, Finn, O’Brien, O’Connor, Quaid, Coughlan, Reidy, Donovan would all be from clubs who bar absolute junior have no football team

Sub keeper colin ryan plays. Oisin O’Farrell is on the panel and is Senans best player. They objected to playing without him. Not sure how that is going. It was in doubt whether the game would go ahead or not last I heard.

Hego plays a bit. But between injuries and the championship starting before hurlers finish etc he doesn’t play much.

He is the one lad that could play county football.

Imagine him under a high ball in the new rules. He’d clane up.

Refixed for Wednesday 22nd July. OOF was on the standby list for the semi-final and, although unlikely to be involved, I believe the senior hurling management refused to release any players to play football championship.

Which is fair imo. You can’t be telling lads on the extended panel they have no involvement

Pallasgreen game pulled also due to malachys involvement. Will be tricky for Pallas to fit in two postponed football games along with block of hurling

CON and Ethan Hurley play a small bit. I definitely recall Aido playing junior a couple years back too.

Surely loads of time to play both after Limerick finish up hurling. Tipp play divisional hurling on top of it and still have enough time to finish in time when they get to an All Ireland

Dual clubs potentially need 16/17 weekends in Limerick. Those refixed football matches will have to be played midweek now.

There aren’t enough weekends unfortunately which is why we’ll be vehemently opposing any talks of pushing the county championships out by even 1 weekend.

The naysayers wont like that

Do you not think the championships would be more competitive if teams had less game, maybe 3 guaranteed as opposed to 5. Does be an awful lot of dead rubbers in both codes come latter rounds. I found the Covid format a great mix

There’s very rarely dead rubbers in the last round of the football. The structure usually means something is on the line in the last game. Only 1 team (4th) won’t be progressing into either a quarter/semi or relegation

I don’t tbh.

I think it’s a very good format. From personal experience: in both codes, we could either have made a quarter-final or ended up in relegation going into the final game last year.

I would probably think about reverting the hurling format back to the football format, I think it has served its purpose. The Senior A does potentially have dead rubbers or shadow boxing but you don’t get that at other grades really.

Especially if they went with relegation semi-finals like they did in football (which I think they should do).

Mungret and Fr Casey’s to make the final this year I reckon. It’s inevitable. Casey’s were very impressive Thursday evening with pace and youth. Maybe just maybe it will come good this year for them.

But MSP are the team to beat no doubt about it.

How many were NCW missing that they will have back later on?

I see Paul White is back for Rathkeale.

Rigter was the most notable absence. I heard a couple of others too were injured.

That’s fair, I just think it makes it very difficult to manage both codes if you have a large crossover… a weekend off in every 3/4 weeks would work better imo but biased due to large crossover in both codes.
