Well it would be fairly stupid to reappoint him without reviewing it at least
This weeks SHC slate -
Doon vs Monaleen – 2/7, 10/1, 11/4
Na Piarsaigh vs Ahane – 1/12, 14/1, 7/1
Kildimo Pallaskenry vs Newcastlewest – 4/6, 8/1, 11/8
Adare vs Mungret – 5/4, 9/1, 8/11
Patrickswell vs Garryspillane – 2/7, 10/1, 11/4
Kilmallock vs Ballybrown – 1/4, 9/1, 10/3
NCW have been backed in heavily since opening, and Mungret getting a slight edge on Adare. Thoughts?
Mungret will bate Adare.Havent seen NCW so dont know if they’ll bate K/P.Won last year against them iirc, that was where Hayes broke his neck.
Downes went off injured in the football Friday night, if he’s not playing that could be the swinging in Ncws favour
Heard it was potentially a bad enough injury and that Robbie O’Farrell has another knock too.
Time to burst the footballs.
Having such a big crossover between hurling and football is badly affecting K/P in both. They’re lucky not to be in bigger trouble in the football and they’re fecked in the hurling.
Not sure how you can say that re: the football.
They were very close the first day, hammered Rathkeale (their only loss) and beat Adare. Not sure they could have much more done at this point, and are still in a strong position to qualify for the quarters but Downes is obviously absolutely critical to them.
It’s verging on impossible to compete with the top hurling teams in limerick if you have a bunch of lads playing football.
If fellas were forced to pick both teams would be completely screwed.
It’s a pity though because it’s the strongest bunch of hurlers the club has ever had. Lost one or two to Australia and then football has emerged as well.
Hammered Rathkeale is some statement, got a run on them and very lucky that rathkeale where down 6 starters on the same evening
We all dread the day Kyle Hayes agrees to tag the opposition hotshot corner back
I think you have it backwards tbh. KP aren’t struggling because they have so many dual players. They have so many dual players because they are struggling and need lads playing both to survive. When they went up senior A in hurling and nearly beat monaleen in a football quarter a few years back they had loads of dual players then. Didnt do them any harm. Theyve just lost big players, simple as. They’ve been impressive so far in the football barring a shock loss to ABK.
They’re competing with juggernauts, it has to go back to come forward again sometimes. Standard in Limerick hurling is very very high generally right now all the way down the grades.
I’ve always been a huge proponent of the Limerick championship structure (more from a football perspective) where you are guaranteed 5 group games with 3 qualifying. You could have no complaints if you weren’t in the shake up. But with everything a bit more condensed now it probably is too many games to try and fit in and is tough on the dual player.
It’s tough on the likes of KP and NCW at senior with a big crossover. I’m sure plenty of clubs down the grades in a similar boat too especially the tiny ones.
As for Monaleen with basically two different squads ![]()
Adare had only 1 player i think who played in both games again K/P both weeks.
They were “very close” against newly promoted ABK, they didn’t hammer Rathkeale and they were very lucky to beat Adare.
It’s just a waste if time as level is Kerry junior standard. Limerick football is laughing stock. Powders are breaking down. My own team are struggling badly because it injerries. Players picking a festival this weekend over championship so don’t think I will have a team anyway.
You were up against it this week regardless…
Do u know something I don’t…
The Clonshire show?
