Goals are vital. We just dont get enough… The Cork collapse aided tipp but point taken.
@glasagusban also has a valid point, the game of rubby suited Cork far more last year. Fair play to them that they adapted to the ref far better, but what they are allowed get away, particularly against Limerick, is a head scrather. There seems to be a subconscious plucky underdog stance from refs (and media) towards Cork that allows them get away with murder. Cian Lynch in particular had an amount of filth his way second half in the MF and zero protection from the ref. He was literally assaulted repeatedly. While Limerick play on the edge, they were never filthy but get reffed completely different to everyone else. It’s frustrating that our success is being used against us. Seeing Cork players repeatedly kick Limerick players who were on the ground and the ref looking away says a lot about the way both are treated.
He wins an amount of frees but nowhere near as many as he should for the blackguarding he gets. The Aidan O’Shea effect whereby refs allow lads to hold and foul and hang out of hego because he’d walk over them otherwise.
I’m really surprised neither Cathal ONeill or David Ready has been given a go at 6 or even 5, but especially 6. Cathal has played there the odd day in the last few years. Reidy played schools back there and is very natural on the ball. Time running out now though.
