They collapsed against a very bad Waterford team too the previous year. It was embarrising for them. Can you imagine pat Ryan trying that flick into the net with a full back like diarmuid o Sullivan about? He wouldnât have been fit for the final thatâs for sure after the belt heâd get.
They were 6 points up with ten mins to go. Coasting.
If we had folded in that manner weâd have been slaughtered. And deservedly so. Game was there to be won and they hid/froze.
Waterford game in 2017 was similar. Toe to toe for most of it, then collapsed when the need was greatest. Ok Cahalane let them down by getting himself sent off but youâve often seen teams numerically inferior pull it out of the fire. This Cork team didnât have the liathroidi when push came to shove.
A few lovely, skillful forwards though.
Cahalane losing the plot under pressure is further evidence of their loser mentality.
They lost to Lk after extra time & lost to Waterford in 2017 after having a man sent up . The damage was done with a couple of goals in last 5 minutes .
They are a decent side but lack a real good 3 and 6 .
Will you cop on .
Youâre saying cork lost because they didnât have balls. I would say they lost because limerick were a better team, especially in terms of strength from the bench. There is no shame in that for cork.
Any of bottle job or no balls talk is a load of bollox.
You are also devaluing limericks vistory in saying that.
Since 2013 cork have pretty much collapsed every year in croke park. Conceding 5 to Clare, tipp no show, Waterford collapse and now limerick in 2018.
You devalue limericks starting 15 by not giving them any credit and praising the bench constantly. No surprises given the make up of our bench of course.
Christ above.
They were six points up, had the game in their grasp, finishing line in sight and they collapsed.
Tiredness, lack of subs, injuries, panic - the end result is the same. They didnât finish the job.
Weâd have been crucified if the roles were reversed. Thankfully this Limerick team donât do moral victories.
Now youâve changed your story.
Who was the lad from cork that tried the hail mary point from 100 yards? Itâs dropped wide. He was playing 6 for them in the league. Completely lost the plot when he had all the time in the world.
They were hammered by v Tipp in 2014 but letâs be honest that Tipp team were miles better .
They lost v Waterford in 2017 after a 14 man team was caught with a late deluge of scores . I thought the were likelier winners before the sending off.
Last year , a lack of panel depth and injury worked against them . Also that day the butchered 1.2 while Lk were in ascendancy & Lk got 2 harsh ref calls in their favour .
This cork team arenât great . In 2005 they had the rock at 3 and Ronan Curran at 6 . The current incumbents are not a that level
Mahony
And youâd know.
Cardigan the shit one as u eloquently call him is gone
He was gone years ago.
This current Cork team are a lovely team to watch. Lehane, Horgan, Kearney et all are like poetry when theyâre in full flight. But, not in keeping with Cork teams from years ago, when the going gets tough, they reach for the door. They had an extra man against us (our top scorer missing) and were at home yet still couldnât beat us below in PuC.
Then, when all they had to do was see the game out in Croker, they panicked and ended up being lucky to get a draw.
They might be incredibly skilful and easy on the eye, but thereâs more to hurling than that, and their two games against us this year have left me in no doubt at all that weâll beat them again this year.
Always there or thereabouts
Did it look very bad for them on the telly?
