Limerick GAA - knocked down, but will get up again

What’s the story with that Intermediate Football so? Play-offs between Mungret, Athea & Glin?

Mungret play Glin at 9pm (yes nine) tomorrow night in Nevilles. It should be a tight game and extra-time would have it finish near 11pm.

Winners go through and losers play Athea for the second team to go through.

Athea got the bad end of that “draw”. They were cat when I saw them last Friday night and they would need every break going to get through.

And what losers get Athea? So ye’ve two cracks and they’ve one?

Exactly.

Harsh enough on Athea. Fucking walkovers are killer.

Until yesterday morning Mungret were playing Bruff tomorrow night in the back game where any win would have knocked Athea out on score difference, although a draw or defeat would have seen them through.
That turned into a walkover sometime during the day.

Are you saying Athea bribed the Bruff lads with black pudding?

How the fuck is there a play-off?
Surely they should just discount the results with Bruff?. That would mean Athea are gone?

Funny how there is a play-off in the intermediate but the junior groups 3 & 4 are driven on with regardless

That’s the rules of the competition, same happened in the East Junior Hurling.

The playoff does seem particularly harsh on Athea, why did they agree to that? Or do they fancy the chance of ambushing a team coming in after a loss a few days before?

As @Aristotle said, the rules of the competition were enforced so we end up with a playoff.

Best of luck with it. Have we many lads kicking football also playing hurling? Its going to be a busy few weeks.

It’s really kicking in for us now.

We had Football Championship & Minor Hurling at the weekend, we have Premier Intermediate Hurling, Minor Football and Junior B Hurling next weekend, with knockouts of the Football on Tuesday.

Hurling again for the next two weekends, with football also on if we win. Will also have at least a semi-final in both Minor Hurling & Football over the next couple of weeks.

And with a lot of the same players playing them all, not to mention the Desmond League restarting, there’s plenty of games!

“we” do.

Minor hurling and football have a good crossover, in one final and one semi final.

A handful dual at intermediate with more crossing over to the junior sides who are still going.

How did you lot get on at u13 hurling this year?

Ye
