Good jaysus. The huns will have some laugh now walking home with their flutes
Awful. Awful.
Gordon 6
Janko 3
Ambrose 0
Sviatchenko 6
Tierney 6
Brown 2
Bitton 3
Rogic 4
Christie 2
Griffiths 5
Dembele 4
Forrest 3
Armstrong 6
Ciftci 7
Pitch was appalling but it doesnât excuse the lethargy in midfield, the passes behind players (every single pass from Brown went behind its target apart from a couple of typical over hit short passes that went out for throw ins). There was zero energy, no movement from the midfield, stupid attempts to go by players and just a truly dreadful collective effort.
Ciftci gave us some focus but other than that it was deeply worrying. Forget the tie - we should be comfortable still youâd think - we have only one fit centre back who is halfway capable. None of the injured defenders have convinced either. We have an injury prone right back coming off a really poor season, replaced by a guy who looked shit last season and still looks shit.
Brown looks finished. They were jogging away from him all day. Bitton has bags of ability but not dominating. Forrest doesnât have the brains to use his pace, Rogic canât really pass the ball, Christie looked dreadful but heâs new.
Only encouraging things are:
- Dembele must be better than that, he barely kicked a ball
- Rodgers must now know how many players we need
A game that we dominated and had enough chances to score, but sometimes it can happen in games like that, one ball up the pitch and theyâre in. Weâve given ourselves a bit of work to do. I saw enough from the game, we created enough to go through. Of course you never want to lose the game. You let the local team have their night, we press on, another weekâs training and be better for it. Thereâs no embarrassment. We never took our chances and they took theirs. The second leg will be different.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
Would that class as one of Celtics worst ever results?
Looks like my priorities were spot on this evening, old pal.
Indeed it would.
Prescient as always, chief.
Ah lads. Itâs time to let this shower go. For your own wellbeing at least.
In fairness, Lincoln Imps are an emerging power in European football.
Where are they from?
Gibraltar bud.
Go way you bollox, where are they really from?
Would I lie to you? They have a cop a fireman and a taxi driver in the side.
Ah jaysus
Itâs the easiest number you could get as a supporter mate, winning the league every season
Like I said, a top side.
I have every faith in Brendan Rodgers turning this tie around next week.
I see Lincoln Red Imps goal scoring hero Lee Cascarino is a Ministry of Defence Police Officer. That has to rank as one of the finest achievements of Her Majestyâs Security Services in Gibraltar in many a long year.
Ooft.
