Remember Romario and Bebeto against Holland in the 1994 world cup. Their movement was sensational. And of course the iconic goal celebration. Good times for international soccer. There hasn’t been a better finisher since Romario.
I only found out the other day that Mazinho who played against Holland that day is father to Thiago Alcantara and Rafinha.

Robbie Keane is a prince. Roy is from Cork, it cant be helped.
There is no comparison between Robbie and Roy obviously but Robbie Keane should be way more popular than he actually is. It’s a bit of an odd one.
Very few people “hate “ either and if they do they need help .
Robbie was a wonderful player for Ireland who maybe was a wee notch off playing a starring role for a footix club in England . This probably made some Irish fans question his ability
Roy Keane was a fabulous player but acted the bollix in Saipan imo .
Robbie could have had a decent career with Liverpool but for internal politics … He could have been the difference in that season if used properly

What made Roy Keane a truly great player and what made him walk in Saipan are linked together. You wouldn’t have one without the other.

Kelleher got a few cup games last year.
What made Keane a good player was first and foremost his athleticism and awareness of his limitations . He really wasn’t suited to being away with a lot of largely younger men at that stage of his life . If MMC made one mistake he should have given him a pass on going to Saipan .
Is it possible both McCarthy and Keane were wrong and are in truth thick stubborn cunts.
I don’t know, there have been plenty of good footballers who never walked out on their country before a world Cup.

Darren Potter and Richie Partridge if you’d count a couple of appearances each. Seemed to be plenty of Irish lads in Liverpool in the 80/90’s Staunton, Beglin, Houghton, Aldridge, Whelan, Lawrenson, Mark Kennedy, Mcateer, Phil Babb etc.
