Live GAA on de Telly 2023 (No Discussion)

An absolute pain watching a crunch championship game on a phone. You just wouldn’t see as much or enjoy it the same as on a television. Maybe it’s a ploy by the GAA to encourage people to attend matches in person but I’d doubt they’re that canny either. It’s been speculated on here that they’ll have 2 All-Ireland quarter-finals on GAA Go too. The cost for genuine but impulsive GAA viewers will be astronomical.

You had *McBennett on the radio yesterday misleading the people of the country into believing that RTÉ will have more games than ever before. This centres around televised coverage of the All-Ireland Club Camogie final being the extra game it seemed. The only positive is the second highlights show but the intellectual GAA fan wants a round the table discussion type program and a Breaking Ball type 30 minute show.

*He’s reviled on TFK for the most part. I must register his name on the cunts of the year thread.

3m in turnover, where else would it be from? Ads?

There’s always an impending sense of doom when watching on a phone or laptop. You just know, you’ll run into technical difficulties at some stage.

RTE sharing it all as a good news story is just typical of them.

Why would you watch it on your phone?

Not everybody has the ability to connect GAA Go to a television. Neither in the current cost of living crisis would everyone have access to an iPad. The IPTV fellas with GAA Go built in will have access to a great deal now.

So the games that were previously not shown, or were then shown on SKY, and are now to be available on GAAGo? Jaysus some Cunts are never happy. What percentage are you talking here, that have smart phones but not the ability to connect to a tv? Big numbers alright. Maybe they’d be as well listening to it on the radio

If it was a dirty film they’d watch it handy enough on the phone alright.

They were shown on TV3 for a while. Sky basically televised most of the games that had previously been free to air on TV3. I think you’re seriously overestimating how many people can connect GAA Go to their TV. Do you not need a chromecaster to do that as well? Some hassle compared to just watching on an actual TV channel. No need for disdain either towards people who aren’t technologically advanced, a lot of them are every bit as passionate about GAA but are being left out in the cold here.

Jesus you have no faith in people. I know 80 year olds who can do it, they can internet bank, they can do online Tesco shops, they can buy cattle online.

You’re bemoaning such a small minority it’s not even fucking funny. I’m sure they’re fior Gaels indeed, but where do we draw the line here. Did you want RTÉ and the GAA to set up a new channel free to air to specifically show GAA games? People were moaning when TV3 had them as well because it wasn’t accessible to 100% of the island. Where do we stop?

Maybe you’d set up a group to go around and show them how to plug in a HDMI? It might simply be that easy

Dirty bastards

Can you get the porn on the internet now?

A HDMI cable connects most modern tv’s to a laptop. You can even get an adaptor to link your phone into it.

More than once if they could

He was a selector in Meath with the man I mentioned earlier.

No idea

Is there not a way they could make GAA Go an extra few channels on Saorview and charge for access? Much better than being strictly online
