Liverpool 2011/12

They’re completely deluded, Baby.

That’s what they have to cling on to Sid

The empire is crumbling

Liverpool’s lowest ever points total in the EPL

Finished level on points with Fulham.

:shakefist:

Time for kenny to go. He just hasnt been up to scratch

Liverpool fans laughing at United. You couldn’t make it up.

We had a shit season fair enough but manyoo were a minute from the title and i think thats something football lovers everywhere can laugh at. Im sure you would have done the same in 89

where do liverpool go from here? whoever comes in will have to take a hatchet to that squad. A lot of big losses will be realised on players. gerrard and carragher finished. reina seems like he wants out. A terminally deluded fanbase and the talk of the new ground has dried up.

build the team around suarez I suppose but they will do well to hold onto him this summer.

There were mistakes made. Letting Meireles go was a big one as he offered something different, had proven he could link up well with Suarez and gave you goals. Kenny banked on the fitness of Lucas and a Gerrard of yesteryear.

The buys. Ridiculous money paid out, especially as none of them were first choice targets. Ashley Young and Phil Jones were the two main targets amongst a few others but with no champions league football they had to fall back on second / third choice targets and were bent over a barrel and rightly fucked. Buck stops with ??? Damian it seems.

Downing was the biggest joke and at his age that’s about his lot.

Adam, did alright early on but once Lucas got injured was found out. Squad player.

Enrique had a brilliant start to the season and for what was paid can be deemed the only major success of the summer buys. However, looks clueless once he enters the opponents half.

Carroll,(bought last Jan)has battled his demons and I think finally got his head round his move and I expect him to push on.

Henderson was absent for most of the season and had the look of a player not being able to cope with the pressure or price tag of being at a big club but also having to stand up and take hold of a game. He had some cowardly displays, particularly in the cup final. However, he is 21, and showed in glimpses what he can do, which is frustrating as when I have seen him u21 he was head and shoulders above the rest.

I don’t think a host of players are required this summer. A winger and striker and cover for Lucas would do it for me. Obviously these have to be the right players, but as Newcastle proved, you don’t need champions league football to attract ambitious players or rely on this premiership proven bull, just good scouting.

I think if Carroll can push on, and Henderson and Shelvey step up to the mantle, with Lucas to return, we have the makings of a squad. Shelvey is only 19, was loaned out early on and scored 6 I think for Blackpool and won division player of the month before having to be called back over the injury to Lucas. He is a little eager at times and can get a rush to the head but this season will have brought him on leaps as well as young sterling who should feature a lot more next season. It great that these lads are young but they can only hide behind that for so long and need to stand up next year.

The season effectively ended with the home loss to Arsenal. it was a game that typified the season up to then, dominated possession, hit the woodwork but couldn’t put the opposition away. After that heads went and the season truely became a farce but there was some decent football and chances created up to that point even tho performances from players were poor.

There’s a massive summer ahead, and 3 big singings would be lovely but do you trust Kenny with whatever money is there? I’d give him another season to start what he finished but he has to be more ruthless with his players, they are not his friends. I wouldn’t be gutted if he went either mind but, maybe I’m the eternal optimized, but I just can’t see next season being as much of a disaster as last but that’s my heart probably talking over my head.

Not sure I follow your logic here mate? Is it only City fans that are allowed laugh or what?

Good post there CM.

Cheers pal.

I remember my Man Utd mates slagging Liverpool off years ago with the ’ consistently inconsistent’ jibe. I thought with Rafa we had shaken that off, but it seems to be a fair assessment of where we are again.

My logic is that given the shit season Liverpool had, their fans aren’t really in a place to laugh at a club that were within a couple of minutes of winning the title. Anyway, I’m fairly hungover so probably best ignore me.

Telegraph Sport @TelegraphSport John Henry was expected on Merseyside to discuss future plans, but Dalglish has instead gone to America to speed up the process #LFC

Martin Skrtel voted Liverpool player of the season based on votes submitted on the official website.

No other candidate springs to mind, which says it all really.

I read somewhere recently that Lucas’ number of tackles made to the time of his injury was greater than the total made by the rest of the midield for the season. Probably complete bollocks but a good stat nonetheless.

Not Bollox

Lot of rumours going around that Skrtel will hand in a transfer request.

It was rumoured yesterday that he already had done. I don’t believe he was in the squad yesterday?

Skertel will be going no where.
