Liverpool 2011/12

Van Gaal is great craic altogether, there was a wonderful piece in Zlatan’s book about him. Zlatan despised him.

That’s pretty much what Ken Earley said last night.

Lovely. I’ve grown to be fond of Ken.

Agreed Rocko - Dein is like a commercial type; a transfer & contract negotiator. Van Gaal is all about embedding a football philosophy.

Van Gaal has the balls to drop big name players. He told the Bayern squad this before and dropped his trousers to prove so.

A peculiar sort is Van Gaal. Tends to do decent jobs at clubs for a while before they spectacularly implode.

If he was technical director at Liverpool he would only be itching for the chance to be manager I reckon

:frowning:

Roberto Martinez has been offered the chance to manage Liverpool according to Wigan chairman Dave Whelan.

Wigan boss Martinez was in Miami on Thursday for talks with Reds owner JW Henry about succeeding Kenny Dalglishhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif as manager of the Anfield club.

Whelan has confirmed that Liverpoolhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif have made an offer to his manager and a decision will be made within the next week.

The only sticking point would appear to be whether Martinez will be given the level of control he demands.

“I have just spoken to Roberto,” Whelan told Sky Sports News on Friday. "He went yesterday to Miami and had a very constructive meeting with the owner of Liverpool.

"They’re going to talk again on Tuesday. They’ve made Roberto an offer and he has agreed to consider it.

"He is also aware that I have said ‘I’d love to keep you but I need a decision by Wednesday or Thursday of next week’.

"If we lose him we’ve got to move and appoint someone for Wigan Athletic.http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif

"In the meeting I think they’ve made him an offer and he’s said ‘what are my responsibilities’.

"These are American owners and the rules and regulations are a bit different from what we English set down.

"Roberto is a seven days a week, 12 hours a day worker and I don’t know whether they realise how hard he works.

"He has rules and regulations to be fully in charge of football and I know he won’t move anywhere unless he is fully in charge of the football.

At least this means the King will be back in a caretaker role come January, hmmm, maybe February.

I think that’s just the Dave Whelan press machine at work again. He really is an insufferable cunt, who simply cant wait to get on himself on skysports news with his nothing stories.

Birmingham Villa would want to appoint someone pretty quickly before the forthcoming Wigan vacancy shoves them even further down the pecking order.

Birmingham already have a manager mate. Easy mistake to make, Chris Hughton is due to go to the Baggies though

Brendan Rogers as short as 1/2 for the Liverpool job now :o :strokechin:

1/6 with Hills

Dave Whelan is making some knob of himself in this debacle.

He is a prize cunt

Insufferable so he is…

Various sources saying the position has finally been filled, but half of them are claiming it’s Martinez, the other half, Rodgers. The owners are due over for the official launch of the new kit and deal with Warrior, so i’m hoping we will know some time between now and Friday at the latest. I am not inspired by either of those names tbh, but if they are going down the DOF route with someone like Van Gaal, let’s hope a) This arrangement works, but more importantly b) They ( The DOF) can limit any damage a spoofer like Martinez may do. I’d probably favour Rodgers out of the two.

What odds on Liverpool being in the same position this time next year??

I’d be very disappointed if a good man like Brendan Rodgers ended up managing Liverpool.

Me too pal.

I’d prefer a Great man myself. “Good” sounds about mid-table

Or worse even. I’d favour Rodgers based on the type of football his teams play but he is extremely untested

I don’t trust Martinez and that stems from him sticking his oar in during the James McCarthy fiasco.

Why don’t they give the Managers job to Van Gaal if he wants it?

A usually reliable source is claiming Rodgers is at contract stage, and it is to be him, Van Gaal and Segura
