Rodgers was sacked because 6th and 7th place finishes with the odd title challenge mounted in between wasn’t going to cut it.
Liverpool then made a statement of intent by appointing a manager with a big reputation on a massive contract as his replacement and some of the lads on here are trying to kid on that finishing in the top 4 in a season where the majority of the other rivals have European football to contend with would be a great achievement.
Liverpool didn’t sack Brendan Rodgers and replace him with a big name reputation on a bumper contract for finishes outside the top 4. If he fails to get top 4 this season, he will be under enormous pressure and quite rightly so. I think it incredible the Kult of Klopp loons and the constant excuses they make. If he doesn’t make top 4 this year, he has failed.
But Rodgers ultimately went backwards after his great season. You didn’t hear too much bad press about him when he was flying high in 2014. When things were not so good for him the following year the knives came out but that’s the nature of the business.
I’m sure you’ll agree that the media will focus on the present form when they’re looking for somebody to focus their attention on.
So far this season klopp has done fairly well considering the level of competition but if things go wrong for him he’ll be gutted by the press like everybody else.
But Brendan Rodgers didn’t cut it with on title challenge and two finishes outside the top 4 in 6th and 7th.
Klopp has already had an 8th place finish to his bow.
He needs a top 4 finish this season as Liverpool didn’t sack Brendan Rodgers and replace him with a big name manager on a bumper contract to repeat what Rodgers did. There are some pathetic excuse makers among the Liverpool rank and file. Klopp is here under the remit of regular Champions League qualification and title challenges.
If finishes outside the top 4 didn’t cut it with Rodgers, they certainly shouldn’t cut it with Klopp.
