And if he doesn’t?

Jesus - you pull out that “3 points behind Leicester City” line again. I’d say you’re on auto-mode. I’d imagine it’s some kind of algorithm that is spouting this shite, because no human would keep going on and on and on about it, unless they’d taken some severe knocks to the head.
It’s a fact - Liverpool were 3 points behind Leicester City when Rodgers was sacked, under Klopp they went on to finish 21 points behind them. How is that progress? Klopp was brought in (on a massive contract) because Rodgers was not meeting expectations. Surely if he’s not improving on Rodgers, which no sign of him doing so has been evident of yet, then surely he must be under extreme pressure?
If he doesn’t then he’ll be doing an average job considering the teams who will be finishing ahead of them. Rodgers wouldn’t have been sacked if he was finishing 5th a point or two off the top 4. He was sacked because he had finished well back from the top four in two of his three seasons and looked on course to do the same again
Rodgers challenged for a title until the last of the season, something Klopp doesn’t look like doing.
Rodgers was sacked, he was not meeting the expectations of the board. Klopp has been brought in at enormous expense, therefore expectations are higher and there is nothing to suggest Klopp has progressed Liverpool at all yet.
@backinatracksuit, loads of people claimed Liverpool were in the title race - pundits, journalists, supporters, employees. Fair enough, I think you’ve consistently said they’re a bit off it but it’s patently untrue to say “nobody” thought Liverpool were potential title winners.
Rodgers did that one year in which he had one of the best players in the world in his team. That was Suarez’s team as shown by the results once he left. When they needed to be calm towards the end of the season they imploded against Chelsea and Crystal Palace which showed poor or inexperienced management. I like Rodgers as a manager though tbh and I could see him back at a big club in England again
They were tenth when Klopp was brought in, finished 8.
Points count for nothing. It’s all about final positions.
Leicester finished on 81 points last season. A number of points that Liverpool surpassed in both 2013/14 and 2008/09 but didn’t win the league.
Ok, points count for nothing, it’s all about positions.
Should Klopp be sacked if Liverpool finish outside the top 4?
This has all become very boring, somebody needs to change the record.
Lightning never strikes twice in a row, a poor team won last year, a lower top 6 team was never going to do it this year. Klopp needs to spend a lot more money to compete with the big boys and Spurs over an entire season.
@Bandage I rarely recall anybody here saying they were genuine contenders, I might be wrong. But nembo seems to think he’s proving everybody wrong.
And what about the implosion of Liverpool in recent weeks?
Ooft, the minute someone is bothered to find the league table from back then the argument falls apart
They were six points off top when Klopp was appointed.
They finished 21 points off the top of the table.
Are you fucking blind? I already responded to that question you thick fucker.
They were 10th and finished 8th. That’s an improvement by any person’s logic
You just seemed to contradict your answer.
Outside the top 4 is outside the top 4.
It wasn’t good enough for Rodgers then it certainly shouldn’t be good enough for Klopp.
I think they were six points off after 9 games. That’s .67 points off per game. For a season, they should have ended 25 points off, using that math. A remarkable job really from Klopp, given that he practically threw some of the games by fielding the B team.
Its clear the improvement Klopp has made in the team. To go from 10th when he took over to 8th by the end of the season to 3rd now half way through the season is a remarkable transformation
Wasn’t Klopp making thinly veiled barbs at Mourinho for trying to salvage something last week via long balls to Fellaini and Zlatan? Do you think Klopp himself will persist with the tactic of pumping long balls up to Matip?
@backinatracksuit, maybe have a little look at player, journalist and supporter reaction from around the time Liverpool defeated Manchester City in late December to see the title challenge talk, if you’re bothered*.
*you’re probably not.
