GUFC have to move their “home” game against Dundalk to Turners Cross! A lovely punishment from the FAI.
In fairness the Board made an almighty fuckup of finding a suitable venue and the Galway GAA board always had a caveat that they needed to prioritise the footballers if they had knockout games in Salthill.

Turners cross? Seriously? They couldnt get a stadium any closer to Galway or Dundalk? This could set a record for the lowest attendance in a top league game for quite a while. Thats a crazy location for those teams. Athlone are away on Fri and Longford play Saturday, thats 2 stadia already that would make so much more sense.
I think Dundalk were willing to play in Athlone but the braintrust at GUFC felt the pitch would be an advantage. Not sure if Shligo were approached. Dundalk didn’t want to rearrange the date, which is fair enough too. FAI understandably got pissed off and made the decision on our behalf.
Blame purely on the GUFC board and it’s gonna hit us in the pocket now too.
The absolute shambles that some football clubs make decisions on just keeps on keeping the whole thing down. We wont play in Athlone, the closest stadium to us as it will give our opponents and advantage. And sent to Cork instead. Bonkers.

The rumour now is that GUFC asked for the furthest possible trip for Dundalk after they refused the rearranged fixture. Absolutely jokeshop stuff.
