Half a game mate

Thats a huge leg up. 240k for a brand new stadium. Sure everyone else (who didn’t sell their own grounds) have to pay for ground staff, pitch and stadium maintenance and pitch and stadium upgrades.

I can’t believe we beat ye to win the league.

Shels till i die.

Sure you’d nearly pay that for electric never mind maintaining the place.

Rovers are Ireland’s Royal Madrid. State subsidised

Ywah, unlike bogball where white elephant stadiums are given millions in grants, SDCC get rent for 40 games a year and also can rent it out to other parties

Community stadiums are great

Tallaght Stadium offers significant benefits to the South Dublin County Council, enhancing the community and supporting local economic and social development. Here are seven key advantages:

  1. Economic Boost

Tallaght Stadium attracts visitors for sporting events, concerts, and other gatherings, which generates revenue for local businesses, from restaurants to hotels. This helps increase the overall economic activity in the area and supports job creation.

  1. Community Engagement and Pride

The stadium serves as a source of community pride and a hub for local gatherings. It creates a shared space for residents to celebrate local sports teams and enjoy large events, fostering a sense of belonging and unity within the community.

  1. Revenue for Council Funding

With ticket sales, venue rentals, and parking fees, the stadium directly contributes revenue to South Dublin County Council. This can be reinvested into public services and infrastructure improvements that benefit the entire region.

  1. Promoting Sports and Healthy Lifestyles

Tallaght Stadium encourages youth and adults alike to engage in sports and recreational activities, which promotes healthier lifestyles. It can serve as a training ground and an inspiration for young athletes, aligning with the council’s goals of improving public health.

  1. Job Creation

The stadium supports employment opportunities, both directly through stadium operations and indirectly through associated businesses. This includes event staff, maintenance teams, security, and hospitality roles, providing a steady source of local employment.

  1. Tourism and Regional Branding

As the home of Shamrock Rovers F.C. and a venue for international matches and concerts, Tallaght Stadium puts South Dublin on the map. This boosts tourism, enhances the area’s visibility, and establishes Tallaght as a destination for sports and entertainment.

  1. Multi-Use Venue for Community Events

Beyond sports, Tallaght Stadium can host concerts, festivals, and community events. This versatility allows the council to offer diverse entertainment options to residents, making it a valuable resource for the local population and increasing the quality of life in the area.

These benefits collectively contribute to Tallaght’s development, helping the council enhance public welfare and foster a vibrant, economically resilient community.

Disappointing to see lads try take this as an opportunity to pull cheap shots. Yesterday was a victory for the game. Let’s hope it builds from here. But it won’t if the cheap shot merchants are allowed hold sway.

The usually unflappable @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy is taking this league loss very badly.

It’s not the real Rovers anyway. Rovers died when they left Glenmalure Park.

It’s the first time in Irish sporting history where a team which is denied five in a row has real supporters who actually give a shit.
