Same here. I try to do the right thing. I don’t always but that’s what I live by as well.
I’ve no problem with anybody having a particular faith, as long as they don’t try to impose it on me.
We didn’t do the church wedding. Both of us would have a similar outlook and didn’t feel it was for us.

All societies in human history, and indeed pre human history, have religions. Therefore it must have a social purpose, otherwise it wouldn’t have survived. As far as I can tell the most likely explanation is it brought evolutionary benefits as in the ability to live together in groups with a common community morality. It could well be the reason humans survived for so long when the odds were against them.

It gives people comfort. Many people need to believe there’s something higher guiding them and that they are not solely responsible for their lot. There’s also the want of seeing loved ones again. In historic terms the unexplained was easily given over to religion

If you read the bible and take it literally then anyone with iconography in their house is going to hell. 
I personally like the ethics and morals of Christianity but I think the Catholic Church is one of the most unchristian organisations in the World. So not entirely sure where that leaves me 
I think if there was a Jesus and he came back he’d head straight for the Vatican and turn the place upside down like the moneylenders in the temple

A Methodist prays at home and drinks outside the home while a Lutheran prays outside the home and drinks at home

Whether we believe or not our culture and value system is Christian so we’re all Christian in a way.

If people don’t like the rules of the club, then maybe that club isn’t for them.
The Church’s teachings on homosexuality have always been consistent. Disagree or agree with them, but people shouldn’t feign outrage when they know exactly what to expect from this particular club.
