Winner winner, cheers mate
Maybe his woman will fix it for him.
Just in the door from Newry. Great day and an even better result. It was a hell of a game for the time of year. Denis Murphy was the real match winner for Rangers. Portumna will be very tough but hopefully the lads go out with the right mindset and who knows.
Congrats on a great win. Unbelievable achievement to reach an AI final. Watched today as a neutral and considering the conditions it was an outstanding match, credit to both sides.
Very hard to see Portumna being beaten but then MLR have probably been written off for every game since the Carlow county final.
Would you ever fuck off.
Christ, your man McFadden must feel like some tit after that.
would love to see mt. leinster win it but i think croker won´t suit themâŚnewry was made for them- tight pitch that suited a hard working, physical teamâŚjust shows you what a team can achieve when they all buy into the gameplan and work ethicâŚ
your last sentence suggests that its all gameplan, physicality and work ethic by MLR and little to do with skill
They have now beaten the favourites for the leinster title Ballyboden, the new favourites OTB after BB were beaten and a team that won the all Ireland club recently. They have buckets of skill and as much as any of the teams they have beaten this year.
Have you still not got over what happened to Ballyboden? Thereâs plenty of county teams, yet alone club teams that wouldnât mind having Richard Coady, Derek Byrne and Denis Murphy in their starting line up. Eddie Coady, even pushing 36 wouldnât be too far off that category either. Rangers found Croke Park to their liking when they hurled there in the Intermediate All Ireland Final two years ago.
And while Iâm on the subject the question should be asked why were Rangers even playing in the Intermediate All Ireland in the first place? The Leinster Council and Croke Park in their wisdom took the decision after the 2008 club final (despite fierce opposition from Carlow) that they didnât want the Carlow champions playing senior and theyâd stick them into the intermediate grade. That year Rangers had lost out 1-14 to 0-12 to Ballyhale Shamrocks having been level with 5-6 minutes to go. The year before Rangers lost out 2-9 to 0-9 to a late Craobh Chiarain rally in Parnell Park. And the year before that Myshall were the Carlow champions and they gave a Village team that were the reigning club All Ireland champions the fright of their lives, losing out by 3 points - 1-16 to 1-13. Despite performances of that level year in year out from Carlow club sides, the powers that be stripped the Carlow champions of senior status. Carlow club champions had to rot away in the intermediate ranks for 4 years before Rangers went and won the Intermediate All Ireland and they had no option but to readmit them to the senior ranks. In their first year back in the senior ranks, Rangers should have beaten Kilcormac Killoughey last year in their first year back, losing out narrowly again but so far this year have made no mistakes.
Too right!
like i said in post i´d love to see mount leinster win itâŚi couldn´t give a fuck who they bet to get thereâŚthey just remind me a bit of coolderry who had a colossus at centreback on their run to croker and then got totally outfoxed by loughiel in final âŚcould see the same thing happening to Mt. leinster against portumnaâŚjust an opinion ladsâŚyou inbreds get rattled very easilyâŚmust be the close bloodlinesâŚ

no its actually a sentence to highlight how teamwork, gameplan and togetherness is more important than having a squad of 50 hurlersâŚif anything it shows up the likes of boden âŚi would have taken it for granted that any team that wins leinster club would have a few handy players but some of you seem to have a bit of a chip on the shoulder and are waiting to pounceâŚ
In all fairness the club hurling championship has become a bit of a farce in the way that it is being dominated by clubs from counties, where the county team generally plays second fiddle to inter club rivalries. In that way you couldnât have a more emblematic final than a Galway Carlow final, although a Galway Antrim final would run it close.
The decline in teams from Munster counties participating in the final should be seen in that light. For all the lip service to clubs, in no county in Munster do the clubs hold sway over the county team. And the club championships suffer as a result throwing up poor county champions time and again.
And while Iâm on the subject the question should be asked why were Rangers playing

There has been a marked decline in the standard of hurling in Munster full stop for the guts of 35 years. The fact that all of the teams in the Munster Championship are much of a muchness standard wise tends to mask that.
If we take the club championship, Munster teams won 8 of the first 9 All Ireland, with the 3 big Cork city teams winning 7 (in an era when the Cork seniors won a 3 in a row). The real decline in Munster hurling set in, in the late 70âs. In the last 35 years, theyâve won just 6 club All Irelands. In that period of time Leinster clubs have won 13 & Galway sides have won 12. It may have escaped your notice but in this century alone, 4 Kilkenny clubs have appeared in the final - Graigue Ballycallan, Ballyhale Shamrocks, OâLoughlin Gaels & James Stephens. In the same timeframe, just three sides from the whole of Munster have made the final, Doora Barefield, Newtownshandrum and De La Salle (who suffered a record 19 points final defeat).
If you look at intercounty level, since Cork won the last of their 3 in a row in 1978, Munster have provided just 13 of the 35 All Ireland champions, Leinster have provided 18.

Look pal, we all know that the reason Leinster teams win so many All Irelands is that the standard of hurling is lower in Leinster.
