M. Donnelly Interprovincial Series

Weird! Here it’s still 2/5 http://www.paddypower.com/bet/gaa-sports/gaa-matches

Must be a balls up with the bots or whatever they’re using.

Tested it with a minuscule bet, it’s the hurling that they have on the football link.

Why are all these games on the same time and why is there no TV coverage? This competition produces the most consistently high standard of all, even better than the Sigerson and Fitzgibbon cups, if that’s possible.

1-16 Munster 1-13 Leinster FT at Parnell Park

Leinster v Connacht hurling and Munster v Ulster football in the showpiece finals - with all four provinces still involved I expect interest will remain high all over the country in these great competitions.

no one cares sid

Do you have the starting teams?

no

That lad started and scored an unreal point as it turned out. Munster deserving winners. Leinster team carrying too many, McAuley, Bolton and McManamon to name just 3.

 wtf

He was taken off with 15 to go but didnt look too out of place. Tomás O’Sé was his usual class self and Hurney done a fair amount of damage. Cahir Healy was the best back on show for Leinster. Leighton Glynn did nothing to change my opinion of him and should have been included above. Paddy Keenan was quite good.

Leinster claimed their place in the M Donnelly Interprovincial hurling final with a hard-fought 3-14 to 1-16 win over Munster at Nowlan Park on Sunday.

The Munster men outscored their hosts after the break, however the concession of three first half goals ultimately left them with too much to do as Leinster set up a final date with Connacht.

Leinster, with a glut of last year’s Kilkenny All-Ireland winners in their starting side, were fastest out of the traps and Brian Hogan pointed to give them an early lead.

Cork’s Patrick Cronin hit back for Munster, only for last year’s Hurler of the Year Michael Fennelly to bound through the middle and send a rasping shot to the back of the southern province’s net.

Tipperary’s Shane McGrath hit another Munster score over the bar, but Leinster shot clear as Offaly men Shane Dooley and Joe Bergin found their range and Richie Power also showed cool scoring prowess.

Clare’s John Conlon, impressive throughout on the way to 1-3 for Munster, got his first score of the day and there were also points for Patrick Horgan and John Gardiner. However, Richie Hogan quickly played in Bergin to ram a second Leinster goal home.

Conlon kept Munster in it, but Power dispatched a penalty to give Leinster a three-goal half-time lead – 3-8 to 0-8.

The Clare forward shot new life into the Munster challenge soon after the restart when he was picked out by Brendan Maher and fired beyond Gary Maguire for his side’s only goal. Gardiner also added another point but Kilkenny men Eoin Larkin and Richie Hogan kept Leinster at arms’ length.

Still Munster pressed and a glut of scores from the likes of Conlon, Patrick Donnellan and Michael Walsh took them within a point at one stage (3-10 to 1-5), only for Power, Dooley and Colin Fennelly to wrap up the win for the Cats-dominated hosts.

Munster 1-16 Leinster 1-13
A totally dominant first-half performance from Munster laid the foundation for this deserved win over Leinster in today’s M Donnelly Football inter-provincial semi-final.

Leinster did manage to summon up a Paddy Keenan-inspired second-half surge, but they’d left themselves too much ground to make up, and in the end Munster had enough of a buffer to see the game out.

There was great vigour and energy to everything Munster did, and after just two minutes they had already scored as many points through Clare-man David Tubridy and Cork’s Paddy Kelly.

Tubridy tacked on another free before Munster struck the first really decisive blow of the game – a goal from towering full-forward Gary Hurney when he left marker Kevin Reilly flailing and then angled a perfectly placed shot to the left corner of the net.

That slap in the face in no way stirred Leinster from their lethargy. They were still second to every breaking ball, and Munster looked dangerous every time they attacked.

Tomas O’Se kicked a fine point from play before Tubridy added another free to leave the scoreline reading 1-5 to no-score in Munster’s favour.

All of 20 minutes had elapsed before Bernard Brogan finally got Leinster off the mark with a pointed free, but it didn’t immediately signal a concerted fight-back as Munster continued to dictate the flow of the game and moved 1-9 to 0-2 ahead.

Leinster badly needed a goal to claw their way back into the game, and it came from an unlikely source. Diarmuid Connolly’s through ball found Mikey Conway, and when his well-struck shot was saved by Alan Quirke, Leinster corner-back Cahir Healy appeared from nowhere to poke the rebound to the back of the net.

Suddenly invigorated, Leinster added points from Paddy Keenan and Connolly, but Munster replied before the break with a brace of their own to leave the half-time score 1-10 to 1-4 in their favour.

Leinster manager, Sean Boylan, surely had a thing or two to say to his team in the dressing-room, and they certainly played with a lot more energy and application in the second-half.

Louth’s Paddy Keenan in particular really caught fire, and two points from him and a brace of frees from Bernard Brogan reduced the deficit to just two points.

Munster responded impressively though by scoring the next five points to move 1-15 to 1-8 ahead, with the pick of their scores coming from corner-back Stephen Lavin, who got on the end of a superb team move.

It looked like Munster might stroll from there to the final whistle, but, credit to Leinster, they fought right to the end, and an unbroken necklace of five points left just two between the teams again.

In the end though, Boylan’s team ran out of time and energy, and David Tubridy made the win safe for Munster with a fine point in injury time.

Top quality player.

Congratulations Ulster on their superb vicxtory in this great competition, the most consistently high level of football there is. A real two fingers to the 23 counties.
