I havenāt heard much yet but Iām hoping to head up the weekend after next. Talking to middle management about the pedestrianised street they didnāt have any strong feelings so far.
The arguments against it donāt stand up tbh
Gibneyās have put in planning permission to make outside loom great. If a few more do it then it will be great
I see. Hopefully the council allow them to serve outside too. Any word on where the taxi rank is gone?
I presume itāll be a huge help for the concerts too during the summer next year hopefully?
Nimbys against drink
No idea about taxi rank. The previous situation want good so anything is better
I think the pedestrianisation of streets at the weekends is a no brainer. Could be a game changer for city centres and towns that are dying
And will be great when tourism is back
Itās going that way now. There is a movement in limerick for it. We need better none car ways of getting into the city too
Ya unfortunately limerick is a bit of a disaster if youāve no car at the minute. A bit of light rail would be easily done in the city itās so small. Trying to get into the city or home from the city after a few drinks if you donāt live in proximity is a nightmare.
Yes. I think city planners realise that cities are full and building more roads just means more traffic now though.
Is there a Limerick version of bus connects?
SEGREGATED bike lanes make such a difference
Light rail would be great too
Isnāt that why you live on the SCR? Fuck those dozy pricks out in Raheen or Castletroy
It is mate. But we canāt all be so blessed
The buses barely turn up at the stops they are supposed to. Never mind anything complicated
Iām dead against it. People forget that traders need access to Dixxxxxxons.
Covid and working from home should relieve 20% of short term traffic in cities worldwide when this is done.
Itās a great chance for city planners to change the city. It took Napoleon IIIās whims to allow Haussmann to redesign Paris and the 1871 Chicago fire to allow the Chicago school invent urban planning. This is the chance now globally to retrofit some of the (centuries) of mistakes in cities.
This needs to be reflected locally too, good on Malahide.
Iām never going into the office again.
Realistically this new way of working should mean we are all grand to live in one-off houses in the country again.
Kitchen Islands for everyone
Sigh
Can you not embrace this opportunity to live in an L-shaped bungalow surrounded by 16 acres of lawn with access to slightly less than adequate Internet?
