Is the standard of managers in football deteriorating significantly?
It seems to me it is. With the possible exception of Xabi Alonso who has chosen his current club unwisely I can see no new Klopps, Guardiolas or Mourinhos or Ancelottis or O’Neills anywhere on the horizon. I see no messiah figures or proper football men. I can see lots of cut and paste “philosophy” guys without the gravitas necessary to be a great manager.
I think the influence of empty corporate communication, the great blandening, the enshittification of everything has finally hit critical mass in football management.
The talk is that Chelsea’s first choice is Liam Rosenior, currently manager of Strasbourg.
I recently did a small bit of research on Liam Rosenior as I thought he might be in the sort of ballpark that Celtic could be aiming for.
He seems like a nice fella but I imagine he’d be a lamb to the slaughter as Chelsea manager.
Is it possible Frank Lampard could yet outlast everybody to become the true football man of the future?
