Managerial Merrygoround Thread

Yes that sounds exactly like what has happened from my sources.

He’s better off out.

The farmers league is full of odd balls and freaks.

The Hagpologists with egg on their face

Bayer Leverkusen led 3-1 at Werder Bremen at the weekend and Bremen had had a man sent off. It finished 3-3 with one comedy goal where the goalkeeper ran about 50 yards out and missed the ball and the other one an absolute onslaught by the 10 men three and a half minutes into injury time which a calamitous Leverkusen defence always looked likely to concede from.

They lost their first game at home to Hoffenheim.

Does seem extremely harsh, mind.

Maybe it was a similarity to Liz Truss and it was clear he needed to go from early on due to being so out of his depth.

Liz Truss did help destroy a hated British institution, as did Erik Ten Hag, but there the similarity ends.

Liz Truss hasn’t managed a team from the Dutch league to within literally five seconds of the Champions League final.

Liz Truss hasn’t beaten Abu Dhabi in an FA Cup final.

Liz Truss hasn’t murdered Real Madrid 4-1 at the Bernabeu.

Some Bayer Leverkusen supporters may have shouted “that is a disgrace” at the defensive performance on Saturday but there’s no legislating for a goalkeeper sprinting out of his goal almost as quickly and as headlessly as Liz Truss sprinting to accept a bribe from a billionaire to ally with a shadowy group of American Nazis.

The managerial merrygoround is just a meat market now. A pork market.

The Dutch, like Fingallians, love their market gardening. It is regrettable that in any further managerial jobs Erik Ten Hag should have that people will debate whether he lasts longer than a lettuce. He ran into an iceberg in Leverkusen, that is for sure.

Ah here, sacking the guy so soon is ridiculous. There must have been a serious falling out of some description. I wonder what his payoff will be.

The Irish Times has a piece about how Bilic or Nuno Santo could replace Graham Potter at West Ham. He must regret leaving Brighton.

Bilic?

Surely not.

Apparently so, they also mention Sean Dyche.

Effortlessly cool

Fun fact: Slaven Bilic is a third cousin of former Baltimore Ravens Superbowl winning head coach Brian Billick, whose name was Anglo-Americanised from the original Bilic when his great grandfather landed in America in the 1890s.

Two words Mour inho

Took the benfica job during the week

Arra he will be sacked in a month

Weird but the analysis around Jose is beginning to really annoy me.

I think he won the europa cup in 03 and up to his final league title with Chelsea his best ten years were up there with any manger.

Pep is around since 08 and I’d be surprised if he wins much this year. Not sure what his future lies and maybe it’s a second spell at Barcelona but two champions league sides with him that Barcelona side is probably bar and only with those Bayern Munich and Man City sides isn’t great.

Obviously pep could kick on again but I think people are being very harsh on Jose. He was an incredible manager.

He was. But his time is past and he hasn’t embraced the way modern soccer is played with the press etc. His tactics are from 10-20yrs ago which is now light years ago.

There was a stat in the paper a few weeks ago saying that Jose has picked up €110 million in compensation for all his sackings.

And rightly so too

His carry on with the doctor that time at Chelsea was as bad as I have seen from a manager. He’s a right nasty piece of work.

And utterly finished as a manager.
