Managerial Merrygoround Thread

Thomas Tuchel has left Mainz. He did a terrific job there. Doesn’t have a job officially lined up but presume he has some offers.

Martino steps down as Barca manager, Luis Enrique to be the new boss there?

Ta ra Tata, a decent man and a good coach but the job proved a bit too much for him.

Luis Enrique has been confirmed as the new manager of Barcelona

Makes sense for them - but I wonder are they in danger of over-indulging the “Barcelona philosophy?” Martino never really looked like he belonged and don’t think they were wrong to move on, but he got the same points total in his first season as Guardiola. Pep defined that Barcelona style so was (rightly) revered. Martino dared to challenge it a bit (as well as getting some things badly wrong in big games) and was jettisoned as a result.

Can Luis Enrique be as effective in getting them to play Guardiola’s way? Tough ask, particularly because Pep himself seems to be struggling to make his teams dynamic enough recently.

Luis Enrique will definitely be bringing his tippy tappy shit back to Barca.

Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Monaco

Francesco Guidolin has resigned as manager of Udinese and retired from coaching.
The Italian press are reporting that Seedorf could be sent packing before the end of the season. They have trips away to Lazio and Fiorentina in the next ten days and I think failure to win one of those games will see him jettisoned. I think they have been even worse under him than they were under Allegri. He makes some bizarre decisions like Emanuelson being the first name on the teamsheet, dropping Montolivo for Essien as well as sticking with an out of sorts and uninterested Balotelli.

I also think he has acted with a terrible lack of class by continually blaming Allegri for the situation.
Looks as though he is going to get the bullet and Pippo is going to take over as manager

I had presumed Spalletti would get that job if/when it became available. Pippo makes sense I suppose.

This should have been the decision made month ago when they decided to part with Allegri.

Super Pippo. :clap::clap::clap:

Agreed, Seedorf had no experience of coaching or management. Pippo has been learning his trade and should have gotten the gig months ago. Would have given him time to bed in and hit the ground running this season. I think he will do well

He’s also knows the quality and potential of the Primavera team. Milan really need to get rid of all the dross and there is some amount of it, make a couple of real quality signings and look to their youth as the depth in the squad - guys like Cristante and Petagna seem to have great promise so they should be afforded chances. You look at this season and some of the gutless rubbish that have turned out in a Milan jersey and then you see players like Paloschi and Darmian having great seasons for their respective clubs, both of whom Milan let walk away without giving them a chance.

Who is the current Sporting Director at AC Milan? Granted they have needed to downsize but they have made some very poor purchases and signed a lot of mercenaries in the past couple of seasons

Braida who recently left the club but I believe Galliani has a much bigger role in the transfers than he has and should be the one apportioned with the bigger blame.

Seedorf won 11 out of 19 league matches since taking over, and won 7 of the last 9.

Has he been sacked coz he is black?

They were blessed in the majority of those league wins. The football was absolutely atrocious and he had run ins with Galliani over his selections.

Has Pippo been a full manager somewhere or an assistant/coach etc?

No.

Head coach of the Milan under 19s for the past two or three seasons
