What’s going to be very difficult for him to rrsolve is the video footage that emerged and the subsequent withdrawal of a witness from the process, with no admission of guilt.

Sale tried to sign Paddy Jackson and then backed out of it. And that’s rugby, which is much less in the public eye than Manchester United.

There isn’t a chance Manchester United will keep Greenwood on. Global image and all that.

Now, they do actually have form for signing a player with rape allegations hanging over them, but that player had a global trollbot army supporting him, which Greenwood doesn’t.

Greenwood will most likely be sacked or at best case scenario for him allowed to quietly sit out the rest of his contract on the sidelines or let go for no fee to a continental team, a Verona or a Lazio or a Hamburg or some such.
