He’s actually not that good I don’t think he’ll do well at all. Very hard to turn it back on given how stink his attitude and effort has been.

And the midfield being cat as well, probably easier to be prominent down the left. He was excellent up front for Villa the night against PSG. As you say, he needs a coach who will curb his worse tendencies without killing him.
Keep him as a runner while letting him still think he’s a creator. He’ll run for the guys at Barca, because they know he will find them. Hojlund, Bruno, Cas, Ugartes are very hard guys to play with. The only player with forward input who knew that he was doing is Shaw really which says a lot.

I think he is good enough if he gets the ball in the right areas in open country. He is very like Son, not a tricky dribbler but well able to drive with the ball and he’s gotten better at looking after it. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t knock in 20 goals next season against the fishing villages.

Any competent right back outta that league from the middle teams would be bought. Chelsea v Betis was pretty eye opening. Some brilliant footballers but the quality across a team would vary hugely.

He’s working hard in pre-season to be fair to him. I saw he posted some social media video where he was training like a lunatic. I thought at the time that it was all a bit sad as he’d probably end up in Saudi or somewhere but Barca is a savage move for him. Media lads ridiculed his dream of getting to Barca or PSG back in January.

Agree with this. He’ll warm the bench over there he’s finished at the top level. Utd will be back with him again next summer and it’ll be another loan. Even the Saudis won’t touch him.

Rashford isn’t bad. He will do fine in a better team. All the lads that leave united do better. Something rotten in the place.

This is a little bit of a myth? A few have done better like mctominay and elanga but they werent doing badly at united as such. They were just younger players who have improved as they got more game time. They always had great attitudes even at united.

Manchester United succeeded in their aim of bolstering Ruben Amorim’s squad with two key signings before they head to the United States for a pre-season tour on Tuesday.
Matheus Cunha arrived early in the summer market and despite Liam Delap favouring a switch to Chelsea, Bryan Mbeumo was another primary target United landed before their 2025-26 season kicks off.
In the meantime, funds have been raised via sell-on clauses in the moves of Alvaro Carreras, Anthony Elanga and Maxi Oyedele, while Marcus Rashford’s loan will also generate significant savings.
Work to shift Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho is continuing, which would give them even more room to manoeuvre financially and in squad space.
The structure and payment terms of United’s deals help, too. United underwent a drastic cost-cutting process, which included a wave of redundancies, and that was partially aimed at investing as many resources as possible into the football side of their operation.
Attention turns to strengthening the squad further, and the main positions of focus are in attack, defensive midfield and goalkeeper.
Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins and Nicolas Jackson are names that feature on recruitment lists at many leading clubs, and each has recently been linked to United. Talks have taken place about that trio, which is normal, but they are not being actively pursued due to the costs. That can change as the window progresses, especially if their prices come down. However, United are placing greater emphasis on alternatives.Another ‘No 6’ (deep-lying midfielder) is on the Old Trafford agenda. If a ‘keeper is acquired, it does not necessarily mean Andre Onana will depart.
Where do Manchester United need to improve before the end of the window?
In goal, Onana and Altay Bayindir have made errors, and an upgrade would make sense.
At the other end of the pitch, Rasmus Hojlund struggled last season, and Joshua Zirkzee looked more at home in one of the slightly deeper ‘No 10’ positions. A new striker could prove valuable, but Cunha and Mbeumo will be expected to ease the pressure with their goals and creativity.
Left wing-back is another area to reinforce if Diego Leon is given time to develop without the pressure of too much first-team action and with Tyrell Malacia’s future in doubt. Patrick Dorgu is United’s first choice, with 18-year-old Harry Amass as his backup. United have previously shoehorned right-footed defenders into the left side of defence due to injuries or otherwise, and the results have been underwhelming.
United lack an athletic ball-winner in central midfield, but have multiple options for those two positions, and reinforcing might require a sale or two.
I see they’re after increasing the price of a 500ml bottle of Carling to £5.70 from around £3.80 for a pint.
Its not all doom and gloom though, at least I didn’t have a package deal booked with Celtic Horizon Tours…
