William develops a keen like for hurling. Cork are the team for him. He likes them because they’re the People’s Republic of Cork. A separate entity from the dreaded Irish republic. Cork people love to distance himself from the absolute shambles of the country that they’re unfortunately attached to.
The North have a split support between United/Liverpool .
The protestant’s have reason to support both teams - George Best played with United whilst Liverpool was founded by an Orange man.
There is no obvious religious split in current days between United and Liverpool albeit United have strong Irish origins with Liverpool origins being protestant - but don’t let that be said to Irish Liverpool fans
