Manchester United FC 2013/14

I honestly don’t think there is another manager in the world who would have won the league with that midfield last season, not even Mourinho. A lot of bog standard, average players. Fergie’s genuis as a manager kept United up there challenging. He is culpable for leaving the midfield problems go unrectified himself for years though.

I’ll still back Moyes, he was in a tough position coming in (couldn’t rock the boat after last season etc) but hopefully next summer he’ll clear out some of the deadwood like Anderson. Fergie’s successor was always on a hiding to nothing so there’ll be plenty of more bad days to come this season I reckon.

Pogba is one of the best midfielders in the world now and Ferguson let him walk away for nothing just over a season ago because he preferred Tom Cleverley.

Wrong!
Ferguson tried to keep Pogba but he chose to let his contract run out and get a move away with a nice signing on fee.
Yes he could and probably should have been played more before it got to that but it’s not as simplistic as you’ve outlined.

why did he think Liam miller was a better player than Kompany?

Pogba wanted to move because he wasn’t getting any game time. Ferguson picked Cleverley over him.

“When I knew of Paul Scholes’ return I understood that I would find it difficult to play and that I had to leave United.”

There was hardly a queue of clubs lining up to win it. Manchester City and Chelsea the only two other clubs that were competing to win it were riven by internal divisions all last season. Its not exactly Brian Clough getting a small provincial clubs like Derby County promoted and then winning the title and repeating the same trick with Nottingham Forest a few years later.

Should this thread be renamed “Lets all laugh at Manchester United PLC”?

I suppose all threads should be renamed ‘Fitzy is a cunt’ but in order to differentiate them we give them titles in line with what they’re about.

Anyway, haven’t you got someone in work you should be being an arsehole to?

Moyes has dropped Zaha to reserves after he caught him finger banging his daughter!

What a start for Moyes- With losses to big rivals Liverpool and Man City this is certainly a case of one in the pink, two in the stink.

She deleted her twitter

Tom Dunne has Simon Delaney on Radio putting together best Irish Man u team. Off the top of my head, probably leaving out obvious candidates I’d go with:
Gregg
Carey
Moran
McGrath
Irwin
Whelan
Keane
Giles
Best
Whiteside
Stapleton

I’d put Mal Donaghy in at right back instead of Brian Carey. Carey was more of a centre half. Don Givens, Sammy McIlroy, Derek Brazil, Liam Miller and David Healy all hard done by not to make the starting 11.

I meant johnny carey

FFS Sake.

Ha ha ha Brian fucking Carey!

How long will Moyes be given?
Touch of Roy Hodgson about him - small club mentality and in their minds they have had very successful careers which they have to a point in terms of managing a club at top level which most people never get to do. But it is a chasm to then manage a club like United or Liverpool.
