Matchday Twelve - versus WTS

Interim Manager Scrunchie is putting forward a very strong case to be awarded the job on a permanent basis, after maintaining his 100% record and dispelling all doubts about his ability.
People laughed when he once again named a squad without subs (he explained in the post match press conference “if they aren’t good enough to start, they aren’t good enough full stop”). People laughed when he handed debuts to 3 unknowns in the last two games. People laughed when he dropped such stalwarts as Bandage, Jugs and Rocko. Most of all, people laughed when he spoke. However, with 2 wins and 14 goals no one is laughing now.
He once again rotated the squad with Cesc4 and Clarkey Cat paying the price for their lacklustre display last week, while in came debutant Gav3 and a recalled Farmer. After their impressive first starts last time out, Razor and Ultano kept their places.
TFK AFC started brightly, dominating the early stages but against the run of play WTS took the lead with their first real attack. This could have unsettled weaker squad but with a young team, comes the arrogance of youth. Confidence was never going to suffer and within minutes the champions were in the lead.
A quickfire double from Monkey started the ball rolling in what was probably the best 20 minutes of football the team has played this season. Gav3 repaid the managers faith by adding a third and then set up fans favourite, Ultano for the fourth – a deft flick which sent the keeper the wrong way. The goal of the game arrived just before the break and any fans who went for their half time pies and Bovril early will have missed a cracker. We put together over 20 passes while patiently waiting for a chance to present itself. With seemingly nothing on, Farmer produced a pass that Xavi, Pirlo or Jonathan Douglas would have been proud of. His diagonal pass took 4 WTS players out of the game and without having to break stride Razor had the simple task of stroking the ball home.
So 5-1 at half time and still the Interim Manager wasn’t happy, as he made a couple of changes. Ultano went in goal with Scrunchie took up the holding midfielder role. TFK continued to dominate but wasteful finishing kept WTS in the game and they took advantage of this by reducing the deficit in the 65[sup]th[/sup] minute.
“Our greatest achievement is not never falling but rising from each fall”. Who said that? Dolly Parton – and some people said she was just a pair of tits. So as with the first WTS goal, the champions responded to the setback with two goals of their own. The first another fine finish from Gav3 and the second was Monkeys hat trick goal. WTS did get another consolation in the final minutes but it didn’t spoil another impressive display from Scrunchies new look team.
Final Score – TFK 7 WTS 3 (Monkey 3, Gav3 2, Razor, Ultano)

Great performance. 7-3 flattered WTS frankly. We were much the better team.

To Scrunchie
