Brilliant stuff.
Don’t forget to pick up a super dinner box from the Chicken Hut on your way back to the Savoy after the night.

Lovely.

De Bucket has been sold, it’s to be turned into a Finnegans type of place by all accounts

To Charlie Chawke?
It’s grand little pub not sure there’s much scope to do much more with it though?
Marty seemed to have a grand trade, was always a few there anytime I called in.

Is de bucket the place on the way out to Kildimo ?
Surely that wouldn’t be busy nowadays, I drive past it last August and it looked rough.
It’s in the middle of nowhere.

Are you thinking of the Marts? The Bucket is the Red pub on the Kildimo side of the Ferry Bridge. There is a pub either side of the bridge. I suppose from the outside It might not look great , I think the fact that it is right up against the road makes it look a bit shabby with all the trucks that pass there.

Yeah, on the right as you head out west ?
Sure can people even walk out to there

No to some Quinn lad in ballybrown he owns some catering company, plan is to build on an extension, loads of people looked at it but there’s no living accommodation which put off a lot of potential buyers

It’s the country mate. Who needs to walk there?

I suppose you’re right. 7 or 8 pints is all you could have so, and no whiskey.
They must depend on grub so.

There are a lot of houses on the roads that join up to the main road around there. Also there is no pub in Ballybrown/Clarina village (bar the GAA clubhouse).

Ah hah. Clarina is big enough now I suppose to keep it ticking over. I was remembering it years ago when it was a wilderness out there.

A branch of my family held that pub in Cappamore for some 40 years, it was a far cry from BTs!

Had Sunday lunch in the Woodfield Guest House yesterday. A fine dinner for a reasonable price.

Was that where you had the vol au vent and chips?

Yes, my mummy had the Salmon and pop pop had the roast Lamb. all three were delicious and it came to the very reasonable sum of €31.85

That’s value alright.
