Deary me

Glad you liked it selfie old boy.

Any update on the Adare bypass?

I know the preferred route was finally declared last year but is there any further update on it? Has it been progressed any bit?

Took me 15 mins to get from Murphy’s Cross on the Croagh side of the village to the mini roundabout in the village on bank holiday Monday afternoon just gone. Must be one of the worst bottlenecks in the country. Gets a mention on the AA Roadwatch updates on RTE every day without fail. That and Claregalway seem the worst in the country.

Was about to quote that  Absolutely stunning

Expect a final route to be announced in the next couple of months. Will move on with planning etc then.

The bypass will be great but you’d assume that the bottleneck will then just move to NCW on busy Fridays and bank holiday weekends.

What’s needed eventually is to connect the 2 lane bypass all the way to the castleisland bypass. Not sure that will ever happen?

Probably fall behind in priority list now behind cork Limerick when Simon gets into power

Arguably more cars travel the N21 given its tourist attraction on the various peninsulas and also the rest of the country use it to get to south West munster?
Surely can’t say the same for people going between Cork and Limerick?
I fuckin hate the N21 between adare and abbeyfeale as it is. Dangerous road with plenty of lunatics on it regularly

You would have imagined it would have been the other way round

Friday evening to Sunday evening Kerry route might be busier but the cork Limerick road is non stop Monday to Friday and that doesn’t take into account the amount of people who don’t use it because it’s so shit.

I would travel that road regularly and adare to NCW is most dangerous stretch of road in the country imo

Why so? Huge political capital for coveney locally if he sorted that.

Sorry. I misread you. My bad I didn’t read the post you were replying to properly

@TreatyStones the N21 must have the worst stats of all national roads for deaths/accidents?

We’ll donate all the speed vans in Galway to help sort out the problem.

I wouldn’t know tbh but always lunatics trying to do crazy overtaking manoeuvres on it. Anyone who knows the road know it’s pointless any gains made overtaking irrelevant when you hit NCW anyway.
Seasonal factors too in summer you have the tourist traffic crossed with the tractors and around Christmas the influx of white range rovers adding to the madness!!!

Charleville to Rourke’s Cross must be one of the worst routes nationally for accidents and fatalaties too. Always collisions on that stretch. A good few people killed on it over the last decade.

And it would have been so easy to fix. Given where it is, you could stick a roundabout in there no problem.
Most of the fatalities have taken place at the shop on the cross. It’s because it’s not a straightforward crossroad and it can create a bit of a bkindspot if you’re trying to get from the Brutes side on to the Newcastle West road. That was my point 're the roundabout

Roundabouts are in planning for rourkes cross and bearys cross. Design is done.

A left turn before ncw has a nice scenic drive in to the town. Have a look at your sat nav.

If coming from cork I assume you take the left at rourkes cross.

It’s dodgy the whole way down to Croom.
