Matters regarding Limerick, Limerick Pubs, No Culture allowed

I might be able to set you up with a tour of nearby Castle Oliver if the lord of the manor is not visiting from his home in Oz.

Very good. Plenty of WOI sites in that region anyways. I’d say it would be worth staying there for a night, couldn’t be any worse than other options in the region. I heard some mention of a “boutique” b&b type place on the radio last summer, sounded decent.

In fairness b&b doesn’t look v boutique

That’s for nothing. €220k asking price (presume they’d have got for €150-170k) for a city centre pub with three apartments upstairs. After doing extensive renovations the outlay shouldn’t exceed much over €250-275k you’d imagine. The purchase comes with pub license surely?

I’m doing a war of independence tour and it would seem like a nice place to stop before launching into the Knocklong - Soloheadbeg leg of the tour.

I’ll save you the journey to Limerick. This is all you’ll see of limericks involvement in the WOI.

I’m not sure whether it’s the formatting or the factual inaccuracy of that post which bothers me the most.

Are you the one that likes the timber floors ?

Nice. Ballyhoura country. Very quiet. A few pubs, Beefy’s used to have one there. Good walking or biking country. Five miles down the hill and you’re in the balbec.

Dont forget the barracks in Kilmallock and john Lynch’s grave.

And the site of dromkeen ambush.

@SHANNONSIDER could have filled you in about the Christmas shootings at Csherguillamore house over in Grange

A relation of Shannonsider’s is the subject of the statue below in Bruff.

Tom Barry referred to West Limerick IRA as the “most resourceful Brigade in the country” when taking their lack of weaponry into account, and held them up as an example to other Brigades who he felt were not pulling their weight during the WOI. West Limerick Brigade were well organised since 1915/16 and caused havoc during the WOI in the West

East Limerick Brigade caused ructions on their side aswell sure, had the RIC afraid of their lives and gave the Auxies/Tans the run around
