Young Munsters unofficial clubhouse.
Iād say itās gone 4 or 5 years.
Surprised no one mentioned this, good news for the city.
It was mentioned in the Limerick private group
Makes senseā¦I was delighted it went through.
Good development. The Garda Station site is going to a bad gap on the Riverfront now. Would there be any chance of them moving out of there ?
The ESB thing being knocked is a huge positive thoughā¦LCC have been on about building projects facing the river for years. Its good to see it happen slowly but surely.
Thereās fuck all decent apartment blocks in the city too. That said with Limerick being so small is there really a demand for high rise living when you can live in a decent sized house only 15 mins from the city pretty cheaply
Thats a debate for Cork and Dublin too at the momentā¦with the lack of supply of decent rentals why not go high rise in Limericks case.
If done well it would attract professionals etc
More footfall in the city centre is badly neededā¦along with the hanging gardens for jobs.
22-35 year olds who are single want to live in the cityā¦other than the Strand apartments at the moment the rest in Limerick arent great which is an issue.
Mounth Kenneth and Steamboat Key shouldāve been built a lot better which was a shame now looking back.
Who the fuck would want to live ā15ā minutes away in some crappy 3 bed semi ,when you could live right in the heart of the city in a new apartment.
With the new job announcements its feasible imo to build upwards rather than out.
Limerick is still cheaper than Dublin, Cork and Galway.
Fuck off with that will you.
Keatings are doing a big refurb job there at the minute, theyāre hardly going anywhere if thatās the case
Weāre not talking Manhatten here.
True enough its a lot quicker to get around Manhattan
It is a fact that the Limerick grid system was used as a template for manhattanās famous grid of streets and avenues.
Correct.
Thatās for the " Things I learned today thread"
Is it a fact though?
it certainly is regularly mentioned and thereās no doubt that Newtown Perry street plan existed before Manhatten, but it seems like a common sense approach that would have been ādiscoveredā anyway.
Is there a direct link between the two? Question for our historians.
