Bobby byrnes is gone the hipster route? They’d a Mexican soup on offer and then avocado bacon sandwiches.

I didn’t think the clientele would be really into that sort of grub.

Some new fella bought it recently enough.

It’s back open Mondays now which it hadn’t been

It’s in your manor mate.
You should know all about it.

It’s an American guy originally from Limerick or something ?

Read the article there. While I’d have sympathy for anyone that goes through addiction, this fella seems to be getting more of it based on his rugby ability and family background. The article even refers to his father as a successful businessman or something like that. A sad case indeed, but there are plenty of them about. In this chap’s case, the family can afford to get him into an addiction centre.

Interesting the story wasn’t posted in the Rugby Shame Thread.

Almost as it it were being buried.

I’m not sure what your point is? Nobody condoned what he done. I have known of the chap since his school rugby days. I had never heard of him being involved in an incident like this but had heard he was homeless and what not over the years.

It’s a very sad case as he had struggled with drink from a very young age which is rare I’d imagine. He was being compared to Brian o Driscoll in national newspapers at the time his struggles had begun. I doubt that sort of attention helped him much is something that always crossed my mind.

Just as well he wasn’t a hurler.

Ah that’s fair enough. The tone of the article was very sympathetic, and as per @Kyle’s previous comment, I’m not sure if the same would be applied to a fella from working class Limerick with no sporting ability.
I’d imagine you’re right to an extent that the pressure of all that attention may have had a role in his addiction too. Sad case one way or the other.

Why? He would have all the Limerick simpletons defending him like when one their senior hurlers assaults some random person.

And if he wasn’t a highly promising rugby player the article wouldn’t be in the papers either I’d imagine.

A former Limerick hurler has stepped in to sort it out.

It might be, but it would be more a small snippet on the side. Most things that go through the courts make the local papers. Fair comments from you though.

CC ?

No, Turlough Herbert is his solicitor.

Rubby is Limerick’s shame

There’s nothing worse than when people try to score points about people’s perceived back rounds imo.
