There’s always a nasty breeze blowing in off the estuary. I can’t explain it but it’s a pity. Might explain why there’s so few pubs and restaurants that open out onto the river in Limerick.
What was the old name? Was it Cafe on the Row, or am I imagining that?
Well hello Mr. Lah Di Dah!

That’s how the other half live
Correct. We had from about 1999 to 2015. She was tired of it and sold it as neither myself or sisters had any interest in taking it on.
Tough old game. She did well to last 16 years.

Milanos is nearly always terrible and is always expensive for what it is. One of those places along with Nandos that I just don’t get at all.
Got a lot harder for buyer.of the place. When we had it, probably only 3 or 4 coffee shop/cafes in the town. 2 weeks after contract signed, starbucks announced opening and hook and ladder opened around the corner. Tonne more since
Shes made a good fist of it tho the new.owner, has had to work hard for her success. Fair play
Half of these Italian places in Ireland are Italian in name only. The food is often nothing like what you would get in Italy.
What? Youre taking the piss here?
Milanos is surely authentic?
Saucepan on the floor……

I was in Milanos one time and a fella ordered a pizza that was advertised as having 30% less calories …
When he got it the whole middle third had been cut out in a circle and filled with rocket
Genius
You’ll be shocked when you find out about the Irish pubs in Italy.

Thank god we can rely on Dolmio for that authentic taste of Italy at home

I listened to a mildly interesting podcast about the history of Italian Cuisine lately, bascially peasants in the Italian countryside were all starving and malnourished until very recently and the idea of country Italian Grandmothers serving up huge tables of complicated delicous food to the entire family is a modern marketing/American invention.
Another mildly interesting factoid is the idea that pasta came from China via Marco Polo was compleltely made up by some obscure trade journal in the 1930s in the US to build a story around pasta to sell more of it and for some reason it just became part of peoples understanding over the years. But has no basis in truth whatsoever.
It’s called pizza express in the UK. They gave it a fancier name over here and hoodwinked the paddies into paying more. A good while back it was all over the news in the UK for taking the tips off staff and using them to pay their hourly wages
