Mayo - let's keep this going

They are gonna make an absolute fortune and drive Ewan/Tim O’Leary absolutely ape in the process. Fair play to them.

So just Joe Brolly and Bernard Flynn?

You had the chance to support your opinon but you’ve failed to.

Dyknow Ewan and Tim are the two fellas who came to find on that.

I’m solidly delighted for the cunts.

I’m sure Ewan is organising a fundraiser for Kildare for wealthy Ă©migrĂ©s like himself dispersed around the world (the ones that don’t piss it away on horsey horse anyway)

That gold table seating option will go in jig time, in fairness they all will, but what 450€ or so is fantastic value. Will Kobe be there I wonder?

Here’s a link to support for my opinion.

Good ol Aido wha

I’m not a journalist or pundit or part of the GAA media though so I don’t know that your point is? Are you being deliberately obtuse or are you just genuinely thick?

What does you not being a journalist or pundit have to do with my comment? I didn’t say anything about journalists or pundits. Are you being deliberately obtuse or are you just genuinely thick?

Lot of hurt in that post

Because it’s the criticism from journalists, pundits, podcasters are the ones whose views are amplified and there is pretty much a unilateral position across these platforms that O’Shea cannot be criticised. He has a unique position in that he is defended anytime he has criticism, generally very fair criticism, passed his direction.

Pretty much every intercounty player gets criticism online or through social media - particularly when they court the spotlight like guys such as Aidan O’Shea, Bernard Brogan and Joe Canning do. Plenty of your posts go very hard of GAA players. I just find it odd why O’Shea should be immune from it when his performances in big games were miles off the level they were required to be.

The equivalence I would give is its like any western organisation about Israel, they know any criticism is merited but they feel compelled to speak up out against it.

Why I don’t know but media commentators who have no problem slating other players have little issue with defending O’Shea from mild criticism. I gave the example earlier about the witch hunt Tiernan McCann received for his simulation that got Darren Hughes sent off a number of years back. McCann put himself in that position with his actions and media journalists and pundits went in on him hard. When O’Shea cheated to put Fermanagh out fo the Championship a year or so later there was some very awkward navel gazing taking place in relation to it. He’s a protected species.

I think its fairly clear by now

I don’t think anyone disagrees that fair sensible criticism of players is to be expected, especially in the modern online era, where everything is instant and everyone has an opinion.

Its when it crosses over into personal insults, name -calling , that people should draw a line. You would have to living on the moon to see that brollys comments in the media of aiden o shea over the year’s exceeded what any other mayo player got. And a lot of it were personal not relaxed to football. As for saying every player gets stick thats ridiculous. Do you think jack coyne or an liam silke will get the same amount of abuse as a David Clifford or Shane Walsh? Obviously not.

Anytime o shea name came up on twitter or Facebook over the year’s youd just a slew of abusive comments, even if hed played .well, especially from Dublin fans.

Aido took some terrible and entirely meant abuse.

You cited Colm O’Rourke earlier. He’s a guy who has crossed the line many a time with his comments. His comments on Brian Dooher, his comments on Tiernan McCann. And you called him balanced.

Brolly goes over the top on everyone - what he said about O’Shea was much milder that what he has said about Kieran McGeeney and Mickey Harte in the past and there was no big uprisal against him for his comments on them which McGeeney’s case was a complete fabrication. His comments on Sean Cavanagh were far more scathing that anything he has said on O’Shea.

Every high profile GAA player gets a slew of abusive comments on GAA. Look at what Clifford, Michel Murphy etc after every incident involving them.

O’Shea gets mocked and goaded for his failures, maybe if he’d a bit more humility he wouldn’t. Patrick Horgan got it to if you look on social media. I have to say O’Shea is unique in that he has an army out to defend him in the media whenever he is criticised. He is definitely the most proteceted species in the GAA - he cannot be criticised but everyone else is fair game. Colm Cooper was the same - he was not to be criticised. Remeber the uproar Brolly and Martin McHugh got for questioning him?

I wonder will supporters follow the Mayo team to America. I remember Limerick lads following the team to America in 2018. One lad got beaten up by 1 of the players as an extea.

I wonder does @Aloysius have any Tyrone connections?

Disappointing to see @myboyblue go on a deletion spree especially the post where said he hoped Mick Lillis got knocked down and killed by a drunk driver

A mans gotta know when he did wrong. Mick is still going strong thank god.

Ah here. There wasn’t one Dublin game worth watching en route to the 2017 final. They devoured everyone in their own systematic way. In fact once Mayo departed the 2018 championship in Newbridge the whole thing became unbelievably boring too. Mayo kept those championships in the public consciousness. Now we have a plethora of contenders, while still having maverick Mayo. As a neutral I’m far more enthused about the 2027 championship as a whole than I was 10 years previous.

That equaliser he kicked to level the drawn 2016 final was far from a tap over and was the epitome of clutch. He had his faults for sure but I don’t think he ever hid.
