No it’s a U.K. thing, to maintain home attendances at lower league. You even have stuff like El Classico banned from being shown in the U.K. at that time.

Being sick during your first Christmas in Ireland for decades. Second day in bed, and no sleep as I stupidly took flu medicine, which in my case causes insomnia. One of my Christmas presents was a ticket to Mick Flannery at Dolans tonight and I had to reluctantly donate it. Now, he might be shit for all I know, but the rest of the clan who went were treated to the Rubberbandids as warm up.
Have decided I have had enough. Just made a concoction in a pint mug, one lemsip, 2 shots of Powers, a thick slice of lemon with several cloves and half a tsp of cayenne pepper. I will be rearing to go or dead in the morning.

There’s enough paracetamol in the Lemsip, and Nyquil has anti-histamines which keep me awake.
I am considering more Powers though.

What’s in that? Pain isn’t really the problem, mostly congestion and lack of sleep. Probably a small bit of alcohol poisoning as well.
Been the same for the past 2 days, hit me on Christmas Day but I drove on through it until I could go no further. Been laid out the last 2 days, must have had 3/4 lemons, a jar of Manuka honey and a concoction of drugs in that time. Sweat the bit out last night and finally feeling somewhat normal again this evening. Have a fierce chesty cough now though and the head is beginning to block up. It’ll be a while before I see the back of it

There’s a gram of Paracetamol in the Lemsip, don’t like mixing Codeine and alcohol (prior experience).

There is, and also caffeine. For a OTC pain medicine, Sophadeine Migaine would be my recommendation.
