John Terry for me. Not the worst of the 12 but certainly overrated in my book. Costs plenty of goals by going to win balls that he should just leave alone. There’s more to defending than bravery.
Ballack and Shevchenko etc. aren’t in there because on current form they’re not really rated that highly. Plenty of United players but I suppose that’s because they’re highly rated in the media.
Fabregas is included not because he’s not a good player but because I’ve heard too many people say recently that he’s the best midfielder in the world. They believe this not because he’s better than Kaka, Iniesta, Deco etc. but because he’s young.
Just voted Gerrard because I dont think he makes Liverpool play as well as people think.I think Xavi Alonsos injury at the moment one of the reasons they have been playing poor of late.
Anyway, just voted. Lampard, cannot see how all the praise is warranted. Firstly he’s a fat fook like myself. I could do what he does on a football pitch.
Lampard for me. I don’t know what he’s meant to be/do. His myth has been based on a plethora of deflected goals against rubbish teams. In fairness to him his main attribute seems to be an ability to strike a clean ball. However, the trouble is that he’s generally incapable of directing the ball. That said he’s often saved by his inate ability to cannon the ball off about 6 opposition players before the ball somehow, miraculously, ends up in the net.
As for the other qualities usually possessed by ‘world-class midfield players’ then he doesn’t appear to have a great range of passing, he isn’t always on the ball and at the fulcrum of everything his team does (often you won’t notice he’s playing until the first deflected shot on target after about 40 minutes), he doesn’t tackle or drive his team on and he doesn’t have a huge workrate. Plus, he seems to be a complete and utter c0ck.
I await sledgehammer’s response when he gets released from prison in Derry.
