Munster, celtic league, heineken cup, general and tag rugby thread 🐐

Ya, that’s an issue I have with rugby, but to be honest that shit talk comes from development managers and the like and the schools. The fee paying schools in Cork now more or less have a ban on active GAA players playing on their teams and are encouraging them to give up playing other sports and telling them that it’s stunts their rugby development, which of course is both socially and scientifically incorrect, it’s proven beyond any doubt playing as many sports as possible/realistic up to 16/17 will make you a better athlete.
Then there glaring hypocrisy as well with guys in universities teaching this exact reality, but in their side jobs for IRFU and rugby clubs preaching the exact opposite.

But Munster, as a professional rugby team/organization don’t target GAA players or tell them give up other sports. At least they didn’t, and I it was happening it was lads doing a solo run

It is the supporters & the social climbing that I see going with it that stick in my craw.

I would agree that players should be playing a number of sports (along with doing athletics is possible).

RIP Munster rugby.

And gymnastics. Gymnastics from about 4/5-12, then athletics would really give a kid a huge advantage.
What’s your big beef with Munster CCHA? I know your a big hurling man, but has Munster (or rugby)really robbed anyone of significance from Limerick hurling? Haven’t any of the Ard Scoil Ris lads gone to hurling?

Cork lost 2 certainties, but I never remember Limerick going on about anyone? Surely that’s the only fear? Crowds, support etc is not an issue seeing as both are massive bandwagons and in different seasons?

Serious question, not a WUM?
He isn’t as high profile as Sweetnam etc but one of the best players on one of the minor hurling team a couple of years ago was offered and accepted a place in the Munster academy. The player in question played midfield, really athletic player and, in my opinion, had the ability to go on and play inter-county at senior level. Open to correction but I don’t think he even plays club hurling now which is a shame as his city based club are still intermediate and finally seem to be getting their act together.

To be honest Cork have a far greater pick than Limerick. Cork can “afford” (relatively) to lose lads like Sweetnam when they can call up the likes of Aidan Walsh, Cadogan etc. We need everyone as the pool of talent is not as strong. The footballers would probably have won the holy grail of a Munster title if Jermey Staunton had been with them.

In fairness even though most of the Munster squad are from Cork the hype is not as severe down there before matches. The week of the Toulouse game there’ll hardly be a word about it down there while in Limerick the Leader, Live 95FM and co will have non stop coverage with flags all over the Sarsfield Bridge etc.

Said player is from my club. He has been injured for a couple of years now and has had hip operations. That is not my gripe, you will always have some players drop out for different reasons, that is an issue for the counties to offer a good alternative.

+1. There’s some amount of dickheads who get up on the bandwagon alright.

Filthy night for the captain’s run.

The strongest hurling club in Munster is down the road from thomond park pal.

Cratloe ?

Watching the under 20’s descend into a rabble.
The out half with a storm to his back never once kicked the ball

He left the Gaelic Grounds good and early?

Could I get a link for the game lads?

Use Hola to stream through the RTE website. It’s free. Alternatively wiziwig.tv usually has links

The women’s rugby teams seem to have players with the same build as the pre professional era men ie fat ones, tall ones, small ones but mainly fat ones

No rugby in the swamp tonight
