Need to sort that front row. End of story. Buying utility backs every summer and the scrum is in bits.
Anyone heading over to Bath next weekend? I dont hold much hope for this fixture, Bath seem to be thriving at the moment
To the brave and faithful nothing is impossible.
Iāve heard the idea before that good forwards in Munster are sent to the back row - normally no 8. Maybe thats why they end up with lots of options there and less in the front row. As a thought experiment - if Dan Sheehan grew up in Munster would he still be a hooker or would they have made him into a back row. Interesting idea and something in it Iād say
Bath look awesome today. Saracens were pretty heavy favs and Bath have done them here
A real disaster last night. Very difficult run of games coming up before the six nations.
I was going to ask the rugby lads something similar. Do many kids turn up wanting to be props or do they get bounced into it? I read Jager was a back row but was offered a contract on condition heād be a prop so he took it. I know a lad from my hurling club that was in the Munster academy but they wanted him to play prop, they were trying to pile weight onto him and heād try lose it again to play hurling, hated it and quit the rugby. I remember back around the time we had that crisis listening to some rugby pundit saying that Ireland needed to be taking young lads that were shaped like Sean OāBrien and turn them into props rather than back rows.
Munster had a very lightweight second row in ahern and wycherly yesterday. Reading the article below it has to have an impact.
Not quite as much detail in this as Iād like. Importance of the second rows is a big thing. Maybe more than people appreciate. From reading this there seems to be an obvious big incentive to go illegally on the opposite side to the red for the first scrum and try suggest dominance.
Another thing is the Irish pundits all defend porter to the hilt and say opposition coaches target him cause they fear him, but it smacks of they doth protest too much a bit to me. If he was as good a scrummager as the Irish pundits say he would be winning as many penalties as he gives away surely. And heās 29 and constantly whistled, surely heās learned to āpaint better pictures for the refā.
Crayon rather than paint.
Seeing cj stander and his Mrs love for Limerick city and the surrounding areas is quite touching.
Not sure on the quote but Jager was definitely a prop in school by the end.
He covered prop due to injuries but went back to back row. He went to NZ hoping to play back row but was offered a contract as a tighthead and had to take it and bulk up and learn the position.
Didnāt know that. There was a move around then to move to have your best players on the pitch. With limited pushing there was only limited value to having a good scrummager. So moving backrow to props made a lot of sense.
They are continuing their fine form from last season. Van graan doing a decent job but there has been alot of £££££ been thrown at that team
I donāt think there is a whole pile of thought goes into the back play bar give it Finn and Ollie Lawrence. They are liable to run out of ideas in the opposition 22 if they meet someone as big and strong. That said DuToit & Habano especially, Will Stewart and a few more have gone up a few levels as is seen with their international representation with a few other lads. Theyāre a fantastic team with just a good coach.
They nearly fucked away the Prem last year and did it the year before.
I kept an eye on them since van graan left munster. He took a few with him , and wanted to see how theyād do.
We will see if the good or bad finn russell will show up at the weekend. Need to keep a leash on Arundel. Whats the story with calvin nash ?
Crowley out. Probably a 14 point loss with jj hanrahan in.
It could be a blood bath for Munster
Serious Bath side there
