Munster Senior Hurling Championship 2023 (Part 1)

Reminds me of the “football special” trains of yesteryear.

  1. Dublin to Wexford. Standing the whole way down without anything to lean on. The football special train back afterwards was delayed by an hour by young professional drinkers on a jolly up doing what they do - puking all over the place and pulling the communication cord.

The later regular passenger service was invaded by more young professional drinkers who had football special tickets who had stayed in the pubs drinking. This train didn’t get back to Connolly until 1am after a door of a carriage had to be replaced due to young professional drinkers rendering it unsafe.

Two weeks later on a bank holiday Monday the football special to Tullamore broke down and limped into Portarlington station, whereupon all passengers had to wait for an hour and pile into the regular Galway service like sardines.

Fun and games.

The home advantage thing can be spun anyway you like. Clare’s actual record in Ennis in the round robin era is W3 D1 L2. Not that intimidating. But if you like you can read it as Tipp being the only team to get a win in Ennis with Limerick and Waterford both taking heavy beatings.

Clear what Clare need to do today. Chase the Cork backs like ravenous dogs and minimise the number of handy balls out to a loose Cork man between the 45s. Last year Clare were excellent in this respect and Cork looked lost. If you force this Cork group to go long and you still can’t beat them you won’t beat the big dogs anyway.

I actually knew Darren very well, he was a lovely fella, has given up hurling as a teenager and played golf, went back with Bandon in 93 and was on the Cork team in 95 on the back of some great performances with Carbery, he was doing PE in Limerick at the time, was super fit.

Joe Canning brings a real touch of class to proceedings here. He’s an excellent speaker. He speaks like a counsellor.

@peddlerscross @carryharry + any other tipp lads.

Any places you’d suggest to park if coming from the kk side of thurles? Never approached from this side of the town before and prefer not waste time seeking out some nook. Hoping to get in amongst it as soon as possible.

The shed is hopping already

I think there’s a car park beside the old Munster Hotel you could leave it there if you get in that far. 20 minute walk to the ground then

Goalkeeper needed to come out there. He probably wouldn’t have stopped it anyway but you’re giving yourself zero chance when you cower on your line like that.

Some atmosphere in Mordor
