I would be surprised if any of these mickey mouse round robin games, bar Limerick v Cork (whereever that’s on) will break 25k.

My official championship attendance prediction goes something like this.

Waterford v Limerick - 22k
Clare v Tipp - 11k

Cork v Waterford - 20k
Limerick v Clare - 25k

Cork v Tipp 20k
Waterford v Clare - 14k

Tipp v Limerick - 20k
Clare v Cork - 11k

Limerick v Cork - 28k
Tipp v Waterford - 12k

Numbers massively up on the old days for the Munster championship overall, a roaring success.

The stands will sell out or close to it.

Its sad that the terraces are now more or less redundant nowadays.

I’d say Clare vs Tipp in Ennis will go close to capacity, so near enough 18k. A lot will depend on how Cork & Tipp go in the early games and if there is any cause for the bandwagons to get rolling.

Clare Tipp will be a full house

Terrace seems lively enough @ 20:50.

Ireland is too expensive now. I heard lazarote was packed with racing fans during Cheltenham. 1.50 pints and they taking bets behind the counter in a few of the bars. An on course bookie is set up there.

I’d say a lot of people are tempted to do the same for the all Ireland and that sort of thing where people aren’t guaranteed tickets and what not. You’d probably get five days in Spain for a weekend in Dublin at a game.

I’ve never heard of a paid up member of a club being refused a ticket for an All Ireland his county is involved in. Maybe it’s the bandwagon supporters that wouldn’t know what it’s like to support their clubs junior b’s on a Sunday morning, with half of them collapsing on the field and you’re in two minds if it’s a defibrillator or a packet of 20 major they need to kick start them into action.

Sure there were tickets left over for last years hurling final. They couldn’t fill the 82k capacity. You’d rather be in Limerick soaking in the celebrations after a historic achievement than out in Lanzarote where nobody really cares.

They literally can’t give tickets away to see Limerick “hurl” now.

Limerick’s dominance has ruined hurling as a spectacle

Like Kilkenny before them.

Sadly for us, all things must pass.

The wheel will turn chaps. Don’t stop believin’

I think it’s a bit more nuanced. Kk got very big and strong and fit. Galway copied them, but without any thought as to the type of strength and fitness best adapted. Limerick have evolved from that, but we are essentially at a stage where to be successful, you need 25 very strong ultra dedicated ultra fit hurlers who can swarm and grapple and stifle for 60-80 minutes. There’s minimal room for smaller wristy types. To win, you need a quorum of hurlers, but to compete you need the size, strength, fitness and spoiling as a sine qua non. I think it’s less entertaining, but each to their own.

God be with the days of hip 'n whip ground hurling , flat caps , woolen jerseys, sheep shit peppered fields & hob nail boots with makeshift studs. Them were the days.

Picked up tickets there for the Limerick and Waterford matches for us.
There’s a chance we could be out of it by the time the first of them rolls round. I got onto the auld lad this evening. He hasn’t been to a Tipp game since u20 final in 2019 and I thought he was done. “Sure get us a ticket for the two of them he says”. WE GO AGAIN.

Maith an fear.

It’s still the lure of the Munster Championship, my friend. Those with a knowledge of, and interest in, hurling will attend.

The bluffers will piss and moan on forums like this about games they’d never be at anyway.

My father lost his brother there suddenly a month ago and has gone into his shell. He’s not coming with me on Sunday and I fear he might have lost interest in everything for the moment
