“I’m really digging this André 3000 flute album” is definitely not a sentence I thought I’d be saying in 2023. But here we are.

That’s all fine and well…but foster and allen have just kicked off on tg4. Its really Christmas now…or Thursday…

I would have actually said 2023 was a very strong year for music. Maybe no album to really stand out as a definite all-time great but a lot of very very good albums.

Pretty much just listened to female vocalists this year, of the genre-bending type.

Plus Sampha:

Plus a load of instrumental stuff:

Lankums new album number 1 for the Guardian and Uncut also. Must give it a spin

It has been sitting on my walkman for months now, along with the new Mountain Goats. Haven’t gotten round to either yet.

I enjoyed Lankums highly touted 2023 album, False Lankum. By no means a classic but it’s refreshing to hear some new traditional/ folk music. Tho there’s a hint of smelly new age hippy off it. You can literally smell piss at times.

I’ll give it a solid 7/10.

Your man Grian from the Fontaine’s had his album nominated for the Choice music awards also - Chaos for Fly.

It’s not a bad listen at all but there’s an awful hint of Merseyside off it - you can hear - Echo and the Bunny men, the La’s , The Coral in it.
